"Joss, call me or send me an e-mail, please." We get quite a few e-mails here at Whedonesque from people who want to reach Joss Whedon. Mostly they are of the 'pullease don't kill Spike' variety, but sometimes they're more businesslike. We vaguely remember receiving one such e-mail from Chloe, a young French actress/film-maker. We couldn't help her. Desperate to get in touch, she has now set up a website 'tojosswhedon.com' in the hope to achieve her goal: to land a job with Mutant Enemy.

The site consists of a brief message for Joss and examples of her work, in Quicktime.

I've viewed two of her films. ' travers elle' I enjoyed alot, good portfolio of her work. Bon chance, Chloe. Any who goes to that amount of effort deserves some sort of recognition.

And Joss, please don't kill Spike.
I wish I'd kept all those e-mails.
Wow. Somebody really wants to be a part of ME. Then again, so do I. Best start writing that Six Feet Under spec script...
It's creepy AND brilliant! It's crilliant! Uh, breepy! Uh....
I think my website would be called: tojamesmarsterspleasecallmeforsex.com

OR

jordanlevinyou'reacreep.com
Working for Joss'd be the best, he comes across as such a genius, and a nice guy. And who wouldn't want to work on one of his shows.

My site'd be called, Joss buy my spinoff, or Joss kill Levin.
I get e-mail like that all the time to the Bronze Archives, the worst of which assumes that I am someone from the show, like SMG or James Marsters. I finally set up the e-mail page to say the following:

Important Note

The message form on the following page will send a message to the maintainer of the Bronze VIP Archives only. He is a fan of the show and not involved with production in any way. There is no way that he knows of to send e-mail to Joss Whedon, David Fury, Drew Goddard, James Marsters, Sarah Michelle Gellar, or Alyson Hannigan (Truthfully, if he did know how to contact Alyson Hannigan, you probably wouldn't really care to send him a message, because he wouldn't be maintaining the VIP Archives--he'd be spending the entirety of his time worshipping her infinite lusciousness, Alexis Denisof notwithstanding).

If you're trying to talk to the creators of Buffy/Angel/Firefly/etc., don't even try.

If, after reading this, you still wish to send me a message, click here [with a link to the e-mail form]

All the e-mail has pretty much stopped...
We have a similar message on our contact form. It doesn't help a whole lot.
I had the same problem when I first put the message up.

That's why I made them read the page, then click another link to the form.
Nevermind, not worth a fight.

I think the whole point of the website is that she doesn't know where to send them. Well, I hope that someone passed on the info then:

Joss Whedon

"Wouldn't sending a cover letter, a cv, and clips of some relevant work directly to ME be a better way to go about this than creating a website?"

I think the whole point of the website is that she doesn't know where to send them to.
"the connection to JW's work is lost on me"

*stunned silence*
Funny, with all the effort she's putting into this website, you'd think she'd get a better translator?
Why'd anyone want to work for Joss? I certainly don't. I'm too good for that. Joss keeps on getting his shows cancelled! I've never had any of my shows cancelled...

probably because none have been greenlit. But, hey, who's counting?

(Its called reverse pyschology kids)
She's tenacious, she sent all of that and a spec script to Fury, but I delete job requests and specs before forwarding them. Still, people send them all the time.
Mongo props to the Whedonesque admin team for whacking the self-referent link earlier, and then linking to her site in a way that matches The Rules. Standards? Booyah! Good job, you uberadmins, you.
Unfortunately, knowing a tiny bit about how Hollywood works, I don't think her website is going to get viewed by Joss. Just because you try to be more visible doesn't mean they can pay attention, otherwise it would encorage people to get crazier and crazier for attention. There are proper channels, and the right people know how to communicate through them - which is why the average person doesn't know who the contact are.

Joss is up an achievement ladder. You have to work your way to get contact on that level, you can't just jump up and down and wave to try to get noticed. Sometimes a crazy stunt will work but it's the exception, not the rule.
I love the "I'm bored" one. Very impressed!

Oh and Joss: Please KILL Spike!!
Funny, with all the effort she's putting into this website, you'd think she'd get a better translator?

That was no translator, that was her English!
I know because it sounds just like me when I try to speak French or German (and I make my living off the German language). No, her English is way better than my anything else. But I'd bet you a roll of nickels there was no translator involved.

Though you're right, there should have been!

"Mostly they are of the 'pullease don't kill Spike' variety, but sometimes they're more businesslike."

Oooh, gee, nice way to oh, so deviously use your power to needlessly single out a character's certain fans and inevitably stir **** among the fandom by using THAT one, man...

About this woman, I admire her courage and confidance. She is quite talented, if I do say so, myself.

Hey, this is her way of showing her talent and her fandom to anyone who comes by. It's really not so different from one of those fansites that feature fanfic written by the moderator. I'm always happy to know that the Buffyverse has a multinational following. After all, it might be the best chance for this franchise to continue somehow on the television or the big screen. Network and studio execs in the US only want money. That's why they do stupid things like renewing Charmed instead of Angel.
Unfortunately, knowing a tiny bit about how Hollywood works, I don't think her website is going to get viewed by Joss.

Well, she's got a better chance now that it's on Whedonesque!
"Oooh, gee, nice way to oh, so deviously use your power to needlessly single out a character's certain fans and inevitably stir **** among the fandom by using THAT one, man..."

Who's stirring shit here, 'man'? You're the one bitching and calling me 'devious' while you've behaved like an arse since you first posted here.
Bull, I didn't call you devious (I don't even know you). I said the way you did it was devious (not foward, kinda shifted) in putting people on the spot and mentioning something that will stir things up (it ALWAYS does with fans of anything).

I have behaved like an ass since I came here? How? The first thing I posted about (IIRC) was something from a LJ... and I disagreed with it and was just as blunt about the article as the article was about the show. Sure, I didn't share the same opinion as you, but it was still an opinion. You said not to discuss recaps (after you brought them up) and I stopped.

I also pointed out a contradiction (well, maybe a lie) in another one. My last post was in response to an article from Darkworlds I felt was correct and (IIRC) I even addressed you and politely disagreed with something you said.

I may be unabashed in my opinions which often differ from yours, but I hardly think that deserves to be labeled behaving like an ass.

And you say 'arse', I say 'man'. We speak differently. Guess it depends on where you come from.

Edited for: Actualy, the first time I posted here, it was about a poll. I mentioned that every side had people who cheated if they wanted to.

Sorry, what I meant to say before I lost my temper was: "If you have complaints, send us an e-mail, because we don't discuss meta stuff on the site itself."

But for the record, you were nearly banned in your first week for being aggressive and talking trash about other sites, a big no no here. I still have the dicussion we had among the admins about it - we decided to let it go because it was your first week.
I gotcha and I very well may send an email to the site.

In all fairness, again, I did only address the website after it was brought up and I did stop (but continued to disagree with the article itself). I also stand by what I said in pointing out how a person lied in an interview. There was nothing wrong with that (except the first time when I called them a liar).

Anyway I'll email the site.

You have discussions about banning people, that's cool!!

I thought it was just the decision of one admin, didnt know you had conversations and stuff about it.

Do you have an AGM?

[ edited by Ghost Spike on 2004-04-09 00:57 ]
An AGM? Whassat?
Apocolyptic General Meeting. Y'know, when the worlds getting all armageddony and the scoobs sit around planning the plan and take a vote and save the world, a lot.
