Light, and dark, and always brilliant: Wesley Wyndam-Pryce. Hidden Remote tackles their number one favourite tv character.

Wesley turned out to be my favorite character on "Angel," which I would hold second only to "Buffy" (my favorite series of all time) as a series (crappy Season 4 notwithstanding).
Wesley is my favorite character of all time, and I love reading character studies on him. For the most part, I enjoyed this article, but there are a couple things I disagree with. The key one is when the author said part of the reason Wesley didn't tell anyone about the prophesy was because he wanted to prove himself since Angel had taken some of his leadership role away. I don't think for a second that he thought his decision would put himself in a positive light. If his plan had succeeded, he was never going to see hi friends again. So who was he trying to prove himself to? In my opinion, he knew his life was forfeit when he translated the prophesy, and he didn't want to bring anyone else down with him. He was going to sacrifice his life, but keep everyone else safe.

I was weeping by the time I finished this article. As usual thinking about Wesley and Fred, either alone or together always makes my guts churn.
Best character arc in the Buffyverse (so surprising, given Wesley's beginnings in the franchise) and one of my favorite characters. His end was beautiful too (I don't accept his part in the IDW Angel comics, it mostly felt off...even if it does make sense, given the Wolfram & Hart employee contracts and ghost-Lilah and all that).
I can't age e that Fred and her love would have been insufficient for him to overcome his darkness; sometimes a person can inspire another.

I agree with mossome/Nebula that his actions in grabbing Connor were not to achieve a status, except with himself.

I think his role in the IDW comics made some sense, Kars; with his belief that there was no Fred anywhere in the afterlife for him, he couldn't move on, so being bound to that weird earth made sense.
