'Buffy' at 20: Joss Whedon talks TV today, reboot fatigue and the trouble with binging. "I don't want to be a drop of water pretending I'm the whole wave, but where that wave crashes, that's our beachhead - empowering women and young people, and making everybody matter."

Good interview. Also how am I going to get any work done today if I just spend the day reading about Buffy?
This is one of the longer, more in-depth interviews Joss has done in a long time, it feels like. Guess I got used to the Avengers press circuit, where you'd just get some quick q's and then onto the next one. Fascinating to see his perspective on representation (glad he's become a bit more aware of it), and most of all just nice to see him talking at length again.
I never realised Joss found some of his inspiration with Pump up the Volume. I wish I'd known that, back at the one time I got to speak to him. As I've always loved that movie. It had an interesting story, a naturally awesome soundtrack and Christian Slater and Samantha Mathis had superb chemistry throughout the film. (And to a lesser extent in Broken Arrow as well. Though of course it wasnt as nearly well written..)

Great interview!
