Review of Emma Caulfield's movie 'Bandwagon'. "(She) has taken a real risk, and it has richly paid off in what may be the most cringingly hilarious mockumentary since This is Spinal Tap".

Angel fans may be interested to know that the main character reads for the part of Nina the Werewolf in a scene with David Fury.

This looks great. Any news of when it will be released over here?
Not a clue but it does get released in the UK it would probably be on the art house cinema circuit. Can't see it being released in the local multiplex.
I agree with that Simon. Not a chance in hell really. Well lets hope there is some news soon - I think I should badger my local art house cinema venue :-)
I saw an interview with Emma when she was just starting this project. She said it was going to be a documentary about a mentally challenged girl who was trying to break into show biz, but that maybe it was evolving into something else. It sure seems to have evolved into something else! I would love to see a good satire, especially after being tricked into watching the woefully unfunny "A Mighty Wind". She's brave for risking the possibility that the powers that be in Hollywood will think that's who she is. And more so for "a few tellingly curt remarks...about Sarah Michelle Gellar".
It's satire--I hope some people don't take the joke to seriously.
I can't see this movie having any chance of being showed in BRazil, guess I'll have to be forced to download it to watch it.
I know I want to see it. Emma was so funny as Anya, she has great comic timing.
Love the Charlize mention... that's really holding Emma in high regards to place her above Best Actress.

I'm excited to see her portrayal... I think satire is exactly Emma's niche. She can say the most absurd things so seriously. I'm really looking forward to cameos as well... like Tom Lenk.
I haven't gone to a movie in 4 or 5 years, but I will definitely catch this one (And "Serenity" too, of course.)
trashing your former co-stars and bosses.............risky :)
Yeah, but obviously funny. The cast list on IMDb lists Joss Whedon as playing himself...
I was one of the few who drove down from Los Angeles to see it at the Newport Beach Film Festival. Hardly anyone showed up, which I felt bad about, but the film was worth going well out of my way to see. Plus Emma recognized me afterwards when I went up to say hi to her, so that's always cool. :)
Oddjob, can you give us a review. What did you think of the movie. Was Joss Whedon there and why? What was the SMG bit about? Where there other Buffy people in it?
Oddjob, where did Emma recognize you from?
Oddjob :) Good to see you again.
Kate: I have to admit being skeptical on Bandwagon's premise and whether or not it would work, but it worked. There are certainly several LOL moments that occur in the film, and a lot of that is due to Emma playing what she's called "Asshole Emma" (i.e. an exaggerated version of herself).

Joss does not appear on-camera, but is audible when Emma calls him from her bedroom via speakerphone.

I don't remember what the SMG bit was about, sorry. She doesn't have a cameo in the film if that's what you're wondering. But if you know what the SMG bit is about, that might trigger my memory.

Other Buffy peeps include Tom Lenk, Elisa Donovan (Nick Brendon's wife), and David Fury. During the brief Q&A after the film, it was revealed that practically all of the scenes were improvized, and that most of the scenes were shot in one take.

I really hope Emma finds the means to distribute the film, maybe on DVD in a method similar to what Amber Benson did for her film Chance (which Emma had a role in but unfortunately that footage was lost so her role was recast with another actress).

Electricspacegirl: I help a friend who's booked some autograph signings with her and other Buffy castmembers in the past, and that's where she recognized me from. She had this odd look of recognition on her face when she saw me but it was when I mentioned where we had last seen each other that she realized who I was.

I wanted to chat with her about a lot of things, but didn't want to monopolize her time. I mentioned to her that her new action figures were coming out soon and response indicated that she hadn't heard about that yet. And when I mentioned that Howard Stern had read her letter on-the-air that she had written to him expressing her support for him in his battle vs. the FCC, she replied that her cousin had called her and told her about it.

My friends who got her autograph said that she seemed aloof with them, but I didn't get that impression. Maybe it's because I didn't get anything signed by her and simply went up to her and chatted with her.

Simon: Thanks.
Elisa Donovan (redheaded actress who was on the later seasons of Sabrina) is not Nick Brendan's wife. Nick's wife is named Tressa DiFiglia.
Oddjob, thanks.

SMG part was about this review:

Caulfield is shown harassing her former Buffy bosses for professional favors; she has a few tellingly curt remarks about notoriously prickly but highly bankable Buffy leading lady Sarah Michelle Gellar; she cluelessly endangers a bunch of cute little birds; and she says and does some things that will really piss off advocates for the mentally challenged.
Lalla: Oh crap, Elisa Donovan filled in for Emma Caulfield's role in Chance (did she not?), and I think that's where I got the wires crossed. That and Nick Brendon's twin brother is named Kelly Donovan, no? Sorry about that.

Kate: Still doesn't ring a bell. I'll ask my friends if they remember what she said about SMG. Thanks.
Sounds funny, hope to ge a chance to see it. But I really hope this doesn't hurt Emma's career, I mean I doubt many will remember her from BTVS in a few years...people can be real assholes! But anyway, I hope that this hilarious-risk she's taking really does pay off in the long run.
Elisa Donovan wasn't in Chance either. Tressa DiFiglia was though. She played the "dead woman".
