Morena Baccarin to voice the Black Canary. On the Justice League this coming season. Correction (thanks chasa) She has already completed the episode and announced it at the convention she was attending this past weekend.

She was extremely hushed about the Firefly movie other than to say the original cast is back and if successful there will be sequels. Also Nathan was calling her and asking her about the convention and how it was going and she says she will go back and see if she can talk some more into doing them.

It's nice to hear that Morena is finding steady work post-Firefly/pre-Serenity. But as a voice actor? She has a face that belongs in front of the camera, not behind it. But the casting on the JL cartoon is a nice nod to the Whedon slash comic geeks.

I just can't believe that Hollywood isn't falling all over themselves to make this woman a star. She's absolutely stunning. Perhaps it's because she can actually act. Either that or she isn't a 17 year old, ex-kiddie show star with a terrible bubblegum pop CD in the charts.
Actually, she didn't just find out she got the job -- she already did it. I believe it was one "episode" (never watched so I'm not sure how JL works). She didn't know this would be a cool thing to mention, but when she talked it at our dinner table on Saturday, all of the guys there were very excited and assured her that this was *way* cool on the geek scale ;) They also assured her that JL will probably have her back to do a few more installments (she just assumed that was a one-time deal).
Thanks for the correction chasa - on Sunday she made it sound like she had just gotten the job. Did you have fun sitting at her table also did shesay anything more about Firefly than she did on stage?
She was very sweet -- I think it was her first convention, so she didn't know what to expect from it. I didn't try to get much information about the movie itself because I knew she wouldn't be at liberty to share, but I asked if she had seen the script. She said she got a revised version of it right before she came to Cleveland. Also, during her Q&A Saturday, I asked about where it would be shooting (I think I read rumors about NJ at one point?). She said LA. Other tidbits -- she says we *will* get more backstory on Inara and Book (but perhaps not EVERYTHING since they'd like to leave some info to explore in future Firefly projects if they happen), and we'll find out more about that serum she pulled out when Serenity was under attack by Reavers.

At the end of the banquet, I asked her to pass along to the rest of the cast how excited we Firefly fans were about the movie and that we would be there to support it :) When it came up at various times over the weekend, she seemed touched and surprised by the fan support for the show.
Yeah - I did the same thing - I told her to tell the cast to hurry up and get the movie filmed cause people were already standing inline for tickets. :)

I was at the banquet as well but I didn't get opportunity to sit with any stars, this time. Did you goto the screening of her film?

This was the first convention where she was on her own, she did the SD comic con with Joss and other Firefly cast members last Dec. I'm glad she enjoyed herself and will spread the word to her castmates. Nathan, Summer, and Jewel are doing a convention in the UK this coming weekend so hopefully they'll have a great time and will start doing some more stateside.
