David Fury helped NBC on 'Van Helsing' TV spinoff. Sci Fi Wire reports that NBC has great enthusiasm for the spinoff tv series called 'Transylvania' and brought on board the former Buffy/Angel co-exec producer to help out.

Given that just about every single review I have read of this movie has been overwhelmingly negative, NBC may be regreting their decision if its a turkey.

Yeah, I was thinking that too - if the movie is a huge flop how are they going to promote it?
Well, maybe with the different characters they could sell is as something different, Besides, Buffy was a flop and they managed to sell that... I know buffy had a few years for people to forget about it, a much lower budget, a struggling network and last but hardly least, Joss Whedon.
I can't find any reviews of the movie anywhere. But going by what you said Simon, I'm a little worried about what I thought looked like an interesting film. Kate can save any movie she's in, and I would say the same for Hugh, but his character seems eerily like Wolverine from what I've seen in the previews...

As for the series, I love the premise. Completely new idea in my book, and a refreshing one that I hope can spur-on some quality genre television. Plus I'm glad David has found somewhere after Angel. Wasn't he the one who couldn't accept the end of Buffy and once said he still writes scripts for Buffy, but changes the names to Angel characters : ).
