Save ANGEL Campaign Announces Support for Eliza Dushku Family Charity "Camp Hale" "Taking to heart the theme of "helping the helpless" promoted by ANGEL, they are supporting the Dushku Family's fundraising efforts for Camp Hale, a summer camp for disadvantaged boys in Boston."

This seems like a weird thing to say, but as much as I feel like this kind of thing is great, sometimes I start to worry that the spokespeople for these campaigns are just generating publicity for themselves (instead of the campaigns).

EDIT: NOT ELIZA. I meant the guy from saveangel.org.

Just my thought. I know that the campaigns have good intentions that I do support, but sometimes I just wonder.

Are you talking about Eliza using her popularity to raise money for the organization her father is heading? What would you have her do - nothing - she has a level of fame that allows her to support organization that she feels deserves attention. I mean if they got the ability to get peoples attention and help why not leverage that power and use it and if it gets more publicity for her and her show in the process but more power to her. Maybe I'm one of the few who believe that if your going to draw attention to yourself by becoming a public figure like an actor and you manage to draw attention and support from people then use it, cause it's there to be used if not by the person, well then someone else will come allow and use it. I mean look at Marsters - he could have just shaved his head without fanfare and went on with his life but he saw the 2-fold opportunity that it presented - 1) Getting attention and publicity for himself and 2) Raising money for a worthy cause. I see nothing wrong with that any press that gets generated that will either help with future employment prospects and raise awareness of a group or organization you may not have given a second thought to otherwise - is a smart move on that person's part.
No. Sorry about the lack of clarity. I meant the guy from saveangel.org.
Well we've already had this debate about saveangel.org here and it did get very out of hand. So I would greatly appreciate it if people would refrain from discussing that particular site.
Hi, Simon, no offense, but I'm interested to know what concerns people might have about my being quoted in the release -- if they'd like to write me directly, it would be much appreciated, so as not to fill up this thread with off-topic chatter.

I do hope that people read about the wonderful work being done at Camp Hale to help the predominantly lower-income boys of Boston, Eliza's hometown.
If people want to email you that's fine. Just keep it off this site, that's all I ask.
