Nick Brendon enters rehab. Xander voluntarily entered an alcohol treatment center. It was announced on Wednesday.

i think this thread has been done, maybe im wrong..........oh well. good luck nick.
It's a shame. The one guy on the show who hasn't been nasty about his co-stars, hasn't played Celebrity Jerk, has had the worst luck of any of them.
i guess i have missed all these nasty comments about the co-stars........i mean i have read a few, but not many.
Norman- what else have you read about other costars problems? Unless it was that thing about Emma Caulfield being "disrespected" everyday at work please post. Also I think its good that he's doing something about a problem that many don't deal with until its completely taken over their lives and career. Hopefully, this will lead to him finding more work. Of all the former Buffy stars, he should be up their with SMG, ASH, and Alyson Hannigan.
This was announced last Sunday, by Nicky himself, in Cleveland. Also, already posted.
Gio, sorry, nasty really is the word for it, just remember some interviews after SMG said she was leaving (people were upset cuz she announced it so late)......

actually, it might have been just a comment from AH saying it would have been courteous if she would have came to them first. thats about it, so i have never read a real bad comment from anybody of the cast.

Yes, there was an earlier post about this but this seems to have more detail and quotes by NB. Maybe I'm wrong on that but if not, I think this is a relevant post.
AH was not the only one, in Nashville last year (pre-rehab) Nick also mentioned how much SMG's not telling them had pissed him and AH off. All of their contracts were up that year and the 3 of them talked about returning for an 8th season. SMG told them she was thinking about doing one more year, so both Nick and AH descided they would also do one more year. Two days later the article came out that SMG was quitting. They realized she had lied to them and they confronted her about it and SMG told them that it had been her choice and none of their concern and that Joss knew. In Cleveland (post-rehab) Nick was a bit more diplomatic with his answer, by basically skirting the question by saying that was her (SMG) choice.
Yeah RavenU I remember that too. Whatever else may or may not be true, this was one thing were SMG was just not exactly classy to her coworkers.

I am not one of those that thinks she's either a 'saint' or 'satan' but that one really dissappointed me. She clearly had given the interview by the time they asked her about it and they needed to plan their careers too. And Alyson also stated a couple of times that on her own, Sarah never said anything to anyone on the set even after the article came out and everyone had to read on the magazine racks that they were out of a job.

Well, just not very nice. It takes a hell of a lot of pissed-off-ness for actors to admit they were angry at a coworker so the fact both NB and AH have openly expressed this shows it must have hit them kinda hard.

BTW does anyone think Nick's trouble in finding work and his sitcom not getting picked up may have aggravated his problems with drinking? Ah, my head's just filling with these tragic scenarios!

Or vice versa, EdDantes.
I thought Joss and most of the writers weren't up for an eighth season either. Even if Sarah had signed, Season 8 probably wouldn't have happened. If you read the interviews with the writers in some of the Buffy Magazine issues talking about the end, they sound very tired and you get the impression there wasn't going to be anymore Buffy even if Sarah said "yes".
Joss and Marti were already planning for an 8th season - you can find some early interviews from in Season 7 where they mention it, I think season 8 was suppose to be the last season - season 7 was suppose to be more of people getting their life on some track but perhaps not the same track after SMG announcement they simply sped up the ending they wanted - I recall one interview were one of the writers mentioned AH was going to become a teacher at the High School in season 7. You also have to think Joss was always thinking in a 2 season mode - so he could get all of his forshadowing in. The only one who was confirmed to leave the end of season 7 was Emma.
Joss Whedon made this comment in the official 2003 Buffy Yearbook:

"I knew that this was my last Season before Sarah made it official. Sarah and I talked about it a lot and I was pretty certain that this was her last season too, but I had already told the people close to me, even if Sarah suddenly got offered a trunkload of money and decided to come back, or whatever is was that would've changed her mind, that I was done. That's not for lack of love or lack of stories or anything, [but rather] just pure physical exhaustion, just the grind of turning out stories one by one. I was afraid I was going to start to flip and comprimise and not care as much, and once you start doing that, it shows. It always shows. So, I knew that this was my last year."

I'll have a look around for something that Marti said too that convinced me they weren't going to do an eigth season even if Sarah had signed on and Joss had left.

Edit: So we shouldn't just be blaming Sarah now...

No one is blaming SMG for ending Buffy as much as expressing the disappointment her co-workers felt at being left out of the loop - when she told Joss she could have just as easily told them. Oh and Joss and ME are both known to change the stories to fit their purpose or lest we forget the reason they gave for CC being released from Angel changed several times after the announcement was made.
Hmm, so Joss is lying here? I never saw any of the reasons ME gave for releasing Charisma, so I took this to be exactly how he felt. As for blaming SMG, you're right. I should have said that from Joss's comments, she wasn't the only one who was disrespectful to their co-workers.
Yes we have done this thread already. The extra quotes comes from a press release and I added that link to +Faith+'s post at the time but I guess people must have missed it.

And btw this thread has really got off topic. I don't want people who want to post messages of sympathy for Nick to put off by this end of Buffy debate.
Nicolas Brendon was always my favorite actor in Buffy. He constantly did interviews with the Buffy Magazine in order to keep people happy (SMG has never done an interview with them), in all the articles that I've read he has had a positive outlook and I just want to wish him the best of luck for being able to admit it and then actually doing something about. Nick we are all so proud of you!
