(SPOILER) Joss wanted Oz. Jeff Bell reveals what could have been for season 6 of Angel (spoilers for the end of season 5 as well).

I put on the Spoiler Tag just in case, so if it not appropriate admins, please let me know, and I'll change it back.
It's at least a interesting read, even though I couldn't locate the interview that the articles talks about, so it could actually be a foiler.
But, man, that would've been fun.

I saw this myself and emailed the site to see where the info came from. From some digging of my own, I can gather it came from a Jeff Bell interview in the Angel magazine but it looks he was referring to getting Oz for season 5 instead. I'll amend your subject line as the rest of the info has implications for the end of season 5.
ARGH!! This sounds like it would have been so good, and I find myself saying yet again that Jordan Levin deserves to have every horrible ting imaginable happen to him. Hopefully these ideas will be able to be worked into the tele-movies.
This sounds like speculation on the part of the person who wrote the blurb. You can find the interview with Jeff Bell at this url on the same site (second page, last paragraph):

The quote from the article is, "Alyson [Hannigan, Willow] is in London doing a play or we would've probably found a way to bring Willow in. We talked about maybe bringing Oz [Seth Green] in if that worked. But where we are now, here at the end, we're just trying to arc out the show in a big wonderful way".

The possibility of AA doing the double role...*shakes head*

Can I say again how much I loathe/abhor/disdain the WB?
Of course, if Buffy alumnus X that's become famous doing Y were available for episode or season Z, they'd bring that person in. This is not news. It's algebra.

The irony is this: they'd bring back the talents that are popular in other tv & film IF THEY COULD because famous names outside Buffy/Angel would bring mainstream interest. However, because those talents are successful somewhere else, they're too busy to come back. Whereas Buffy Alumni who could use a job can't get one because they don't have a job. Irony, thy name is irony.

Well. Except for Mercedes. But she's different. ...Firefly alumni? Now that's a different story. This is all moot anyway cuz by the fall there'll be no Whedonesque tv vehicles. Maybe Nicholas Brendon will get a cameo in Serenity The Motion Picture? Quick! Someone go off and start THAT rumor!

*stews a bit*

...And James Marsters... They gave him a job when really the only thing he had going outside Buffy was his rock band... Come to think of it I'm just full of it. Never mind. I'm still upset they won't make a spin off featuring Amy and Jonathan.

*stews some more*

A spinoff involving Amy would be really, really cool. I always felt like there was a lot behind her character that they never really had a chance or a reason to explore.

Anyway, in response to the actual article... I'm not quite sure how bringing Oz on would work, because we all know how he looked as a werewolf. Angel made sure that they made their werewolf way fancier and cooler, and I recall reading an interview about it where they said that Oz's werewolf looked like "a gay possum."

So, were the different styles of werewolves explained? And, how dumb would they have looked frolicking around with each other? Do werewolves frolic?
I seem to remember Oz and Veruca frolicking rather violently as werewolves. It was a sex thing, so I'm comfortable calling it frolicking -- even if you couldn't pay me to frolic like that.
The diff in werewolves between series probably had to do with budget and talent. I don't believe the people they had working on the special effects early in the series of Buffy were the same people that did any of Angel or the latter seasons of Buffy. I could be wrong. If Oz came back, he'd probably look different for that very reason.

I'd also hazzard to guess that Oz's return would reveal a bit of a cross between man and wolf: that he'd learned how to control it enough by now through his work with Tibetan monks and others to be able to morph between the two forms at will, and so the special effects makeup guys would be able to play with as many as seven different levels of hairy Ozness, from full blown out quadraped Wolfie to slightly pointed ears, affected eyes and subtle fangs. Anyway that's how I'd bring Oz back. He'd be able to control his morphing, so the wolf would have to look different.
The first episode or two that we see WolfOz, he looks much different that what they eventually start using as the wolf costume. They drastically changed the costume design once, don't see why they couldn't do it again while bringing his story to Angel.

Also, I like Zach's morphing idea. That could definitely work and it makes a lot of sense with the Tibetan training.
Well I liked Oz, but if Illyria had been *added* to the team instead of replacing Fred, and Oz had joined too, I think it would've gotten a little crowded. There was already a lack of time to let the characters shine that they had. Still I would've loved to have seen this 6th season.

Oh and I always hated the later werewolf look for Oz. The first one was cheap but at least he resembled a wolf. Later it was more 'hairy midget troll' than wolf. Wolves don't have long wavey hair people! Really!

I thought Zachsmind was joking, but - heck - maybe he wasn't... btw why is a minor character like Amy the Rat numbered among the Whedonverse luminaries on the home page of this website instead of, say, Oz, Tara, Drusilla, Gunn, Faith, Darla, Jonathan etc etc etc? I've often wondered.
