Joss Whedon Previews X-Men Arcs. Says he will address the "mutant problem" in his series and *gasp* actually try and get all 12 issues in on time.

My local comic book dealer, er, comic store owner tells me that Entertainment Weekly is going to do a feature about Joss and the new series sometime in May. Should be a fun read all around.
I have less concerns about Joss maintaining a schedule than I do about John Cassady on art. JC isn't exactly a speed demon and I wonder when we will see the first fill-in artist.
I'd also be curious to know how Joss is writing the scipts. Is he working Marvel-style or is he doing full script?
What is Marvel-style script writing? The way the pages looked in the back of the NUFF SAID month thing? Does full script mean like a movie script? I doubt it. The action-centricity (made up word #2,808) would not lend itself to that style.
I'm sorry. Comic geek here. The Marvel style that Stan Lee started with Jack Kirby was rather than turning in a full script to the artist, Lee decided it would be quicker & easier if the writer just gave the artist a plot of what he/she wanted to happen. That way the artist would have more freedom with the art and made the artist more of an equal in the creative process. After the pages were turned in the writer would then go and write the dialouge. The other and more traditional way is for the writer to turn in a full script listing panel by panel action of what is going on with each page. Or in the case of someone like Alan Moore, the writer not only turns in a full script but also does rough drawings so the artist knows exactly how the writer wants things to look. Hope that helps.
Yeah, and let's not forget how Lee's the Marvel Way also put way more responsibillity, time and effort on the artist, and spares the writer;-)

And I've wondered myself how Joss would write a script. I have a feeling Marvel lets him do it how he wants. So he'll probably do it how he's used to it. Which begs the question, how did he do it on Fray for Dark Horse??

Then again, Joss may want to make use of the Marvel way and how it makes things shorter and easier for the writer, if he's pressed for time. But I find it hard to believe Joss would like to work that way. Maybe a good question for when he does a Q&A somewhere.
