i would love an ongoing series of stand-alone telemovies, not related to continuing the angel story in any way as i like how that ends, but a couple of buffyverse ones would be nice, as would a couple of 'tales of the slayers' or a spike telemovie would rock, if it's with dru and set in some period of time where we haven't seen them before

"I do not think of it as a cliffhanger at all. It is not the end of all things. It is not a final grace note after a symphony, the way Buffy was. We are definitely still in the thick of it, but it is, and was meant to be, a final statement about Angel. ... The point of the show is, you're never done. Whoever survives the show, to get that point, will embody it, but no matter who goes on, the fight goes on.
"Did I make it so that it could lead into an exiting sixth season? Yes I did. But it still is a final statement, if that is what it needs to be."

Even Buffy season seven was both a completeness of the Buffy internal character arc (still chosen but no longer alone) yet it was clear the Scoobies were far from done. Their future didn't look bleak but it also looked difficult. Whedon says in this approach that the journey is more important than the destination, and that just because we will no longer observe these characters, this doesn't mean they cease existing, if nowhere else but in our own minds and hearts. Or his.
At the risk of ticking someone off, it is my not so humble opinion that anyone who fails to understand or at least accept why Whedon might purposefully leave Angel season five both final and open ended, completely fails to grok Joss. I recommend looking at Restless again, several times if necessary.
If you still don't get it after that? I suppose I can't help you.

Even though theres a "SPOILER" tag on the link for this article, and IMO, when it says "SPOILER" when posting comments nothing's off limits in regards to give-aways, just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone (9 people) that posted and didnt give anything away for me.

Yeah, but that would only prove that they had little understanding of the Jossverse -- as many fans have suspected -- as anyone can be resurrected.
But the overall quality of the show and the performances by the actors will ultimately have the same effect with respect to TV movies as killing off all the characters. My guess is that almost everyone will have post-Angel work, and ME would never be able to get them all together again, even if they were willing. (I'm flat-out amazed that Joss was able to re-assemble the entire ensemble cast of Firefly for Serenity.)

To quote joss on the finale of the series and I don t really think it will spoil anyone who has remained unspoiled ( and by the way kudos to you guys I don’t have that kind of restraint in me any more I did it for ‘chosen’ and it nearly killed me.) the end is about redemption and if there’s one thing we have learned from angel himself, redemption isn’t just for life…its forever.
