No mention of "Americana" in NBC's fall lineup. It would seem as if NBC have chosen not to pick up the Alyson Hannigan sitcom.

The season will start with two new sitcoms: Joey and Father of the Pride.

3 more will start later in the season : Crazy For You, The Men's Room and The Office (USA) (Would've thought Coupling USA would have taught them to stay away from British sitcoms, in my opinion The Office UK is rubbish, if they turned the brilliant Coupling UK into crap, god knows what they can do with this.)

I'd say it's still far too early for us to rule out any sitcom ideas. Considering where the networks are mentally, they'll second guess themselves several times between now and September. As for UK ideas versus US, if memory serves both sides of the pond have been stealing one another's ideas for decades.

Hannigan may seem too much of a risk however. Considering that past shows featuring seeming sure things like Bette Midler, Brooke Shields or Geena Davis crashed and burned, any series featuring a female lead as the primary element for attracting audiences? Not a sure bet for any network. Hannigan's gonna have to find a sure-fire ensemble piece. No talent in their right mind would attempt a star vehicle right now. The tv environment can't handle it.

The days of Grace Under Fire, Home Improvement and Seinfeld are over. Don't believe me? Take a good long hard look at According To Jim.
I'm bummed. I was looking forward to her sitcom. I AM looking forward to Charisma Carpenter's sitcom though.
It really wasn't that good of a show, so I'm not too surprised by this news. There just wasn't anything very compelling about it.

Charisma's show was much, much funnier. I'd be very surprised if it didn't get picked up by UPN.
Maybe with AH show not being picked up and Tru Calling on life support, JW might be interested in a spin-off during Firefly versus after. I doubt it though. I don't think we see anything until fall of 2005.

I would love to see a spin-off with ED, AH, NB and JM.
I never got to see any teasers or anything regarding Aly's show. This fall's lineup of shows is looking bleaker by the moment. Hopefully though, :) that will all change.
Please, ZachsMind, don't make us take even a short soft look at According to Jim
I might check out "Father of the Pride," "LAX," or "Revelations," but nothing else NBC's got interests me. Maybe the "Americana" pilot will work it's way onto the Internet, like the "Fearless" pilot, so we can all watch it.
Zach'smind, according to some trusted sources over on AHAS, Aly's sitcom is definitely a no-go. Partly because there were too many pilots in line in front of it, and partly because, since it dealt with a woman and her brother, it was deemed too similiar to Matt LeBlanc's show, which also features a brother and sister.
She is now no longer under any obligation to NBC, though the network obviously demonstrated some excitement over her, which may bode well for the future
Well, that's too bad for Aly but maybe in the long run it can be good if JW had a spin-off idea that would feature Willow. I can't imagine that she wasn't considered when the show was ending and I'm assuming she wanted to take a break. And maybe a year off is a good enough break. I hope if that's the case people jump at the opportunity of her being available and make the most of it.
