AtS Season 6 Fan Effort. For fans who don't mind fan fic so much.

Wasn't this done for Millenium when it was cancelled?

I'm not against fan-fic, I think it's great for exploring areas the TV show didn't go into, or for continuuing unjustly cancelled shows. I do think however, that fanfic requires an understanding of the show, and someone with an understanding of Angel would recognise that the show did not end on a cliffhanger, it left stuff hanging, but it wasn't a cliffhanger.

It'll be interesting to see what direction this goes in, I'm not sure whether I agree with where the post-season 7 fics went.
One of the best answers Voyager actor Robert Beltran ever made in regard to fan written stuff:

Q Have you read the fan fiction on the internet about your possible relationships?

A I donít even want to read proper Voyager scripts let alone fan written stuff.

Source: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/i.baillie/AnEveningWithRobertBeltran.htm
Isn't Robert Beltran the guy who has done nothing but complain about Voyager since it ended, even worse than we're made to believe Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz are.
Ghost Spike: Yes, Beltran is the complainer for that cast. He was loudly bad-mouthing the show even while the show was on air, saying how he never put any effort into his acting because he never got anything good. I'm surprised he never figured out why he never got anything good after giving interviews like that!

All in all, not one of my favorite actors in the Trekverse.

Wrenching myself back on topic, so the virtual seasons have started already, eh.
Ghost Spike: i don't think it's about the cliffhanger aspect of it as much as what Fury has said, regardless of what the fanfic site actually says.
Reading what Fury said just made me MAD (no pun intended...wtf?). the writers had such a good grasp of where the series was heading. when BtVS S7 started, i knew it would be the last one. i mean what would come after fighting the Original/First Evil in terms of Big Bads, you know?
but i didn't feel that way with AtS. so i'm still grieving even though that finale kicked major ass (IMO anyways).
Eh the people on that sight don't seem to have a great grasp on the series. Return of the Immortal? Angel and Angelus becoming two separate bodies and fighting? Uh, no thanks.
Betran was basically speaking the truth, Voyager went downhill definately after season four, it went down so bad, I stopped watching, I never miss a trek episode, used to love it alot, Rick Berman and his pal bragga recycled plot elements from the past, and never really developed any characters, I understood Robert's frustration, because the show was being run by idiots, as it trek now, in trouble.
It's amusing how the person running the site thinks the idea of Fred's return is cheesy, and how he doesn't like the idea of Fred and Illyria becoming two seperate beings since they said Fred's soul was destroyed, when it's been stated a few times that this would have happened during the course of season 6.

If I were writing it a sixth season, I'd eventually put Fred back in the driving seat of that body, but have Illyria lie dormant, kind of like a were-wolf or Angelus, or go with the two bodies idea, could be interesting, would Amy Acker get two pay checks? would she appear twice in the opening credits?!

And the Angel v. Angelus fight has been done, (how did that happen, Angel's soul was in a jar, so how did he take Fred and Angelus on a tour through his life with a soul, and how did he fight Angelus, he was in a jar till about halfway through that fight. It's been bugging me for about a year now!) once was enough for that fight, if they had Angel kill Angelus or something it's be stupid.

And Buffy's resurrection, easy!? Did this guy just watch Bargaining part one then skip to season 7.

And male-slayers, alternate dimension or not slayers aren't male, I'm starting to think that this fic is going to suck.

I think it's cheesy (of course Joss and Co. could pull it off), and I actually haven't seen this stated anywhere. I agree with the guy who runs the site.

"Angel and Angelus becoming two separate bodies and fighting? Uh, no thanks."

Yeah, we already saw that. And it sucked.
Actually, this has already started at many forums and websites. It's even been done for an eighth season of BtVS. You can read some of it here:

http://bloodwreck.com/buffy/episodes.php

The first link is a just completed season which I loved and the second link has only just started their 8th season.

As for the Fred/Illyria issue, I'm not sure how I feel about this. It would have been VERY confusing if it were to have happened and unless Illyria said, "You guys are right, my time is up. Let Fred run this body again, keep my superpowers and I will go rest in peace" I don't see HOW they could have done it.
Angel the Series- Heroin
FanFics- Methadone

Does anyones understand what Im saying? ? ?
I DOOO need my fix of the 'verse somehow.

I just started realizing the possibilities of FanFics (when done by people with brains who get the show) and how cool they can be.

Im gonna hang in there and give this site a try, cuz It sounds like a cool idea.

But I dunno, the guy running it is already kinda urking me.

First off- Hes using the name "Joss Whedon" IMO, thats just friggin sad.

And then I see another person using the name "Jane Espenson"
UGH.
BTW- if any yall know of any other places doing similar ideas, hit the "BIG C" up, m'kay(puppetcancer@aol.com)

Anyone else noticed the amount of fanfics that have Buffy and her fellow Slayers jumping down from the rooftops to save Angel and co in the alley way?

Yep. And I'd much rather read the ones that actually focus on how Angel and the gang got themselves out of the alley, instead of having the easy fix of Buffy and her Slayerettes swooping in (after not caring a fig about Angel the entire season) to save his preternatural bacon.

That fixation on fitting tab A into slot B is just never going to go away, is it? ;)

I got no problem with a little Deus Ex Machina now and then. Sure you can have a character show up right at the last second and save the day once in a while. BUT, I will not allow for the entire conflict of the season to be resolved by Deus Ex Machina.
Example: A huge demon we have been building for many weeks is about to destry Angel & Co. when suddenly a huge shiny hand shoots out of the sky, crushes the demon, makes Angel human, kills all evil on Earth, and they all live happily ever after!

Hee! Funny moderator.

Speaking of fanfiction, if anyone is interested, there are links to my 3 Buffy stories in my whedonesque profile. I'd be interested to know what you people think of them.

heh, don't agree with that being a Deus Ex Machina, that's just bad writing (yes I am aware he's probably thinking of the worst possible idea)
Oh god, the "Big buffy twist" he was going on about last night is that he wants to turn Buffy to claim that she's cookies, be happy with Angel for a bit, then turn her into a vampire, it's just a female Angelus for god sake. I was expecting something at least mildly clever, like the First having taken Buffy's body somehow when she was near-death in the hellmouth, and that would have sucked too.
Ideas are just that, ideas.

You can't say something will suck, unless you see the execution of the idea.

Let's face it, if you'd have heard about the Musical or Hush "an episode with no dialogue" before you'd seen it, you'd be saying the same things :)
