SMG in Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey. She provides the voice of Ranger in the film that is scheduled for a late 2005 or early 2006 release.

Is this a cartoon? 'Voice of' seems to imply this. So she's voicing *a* cartoon....I'm not making comments, I'm really not....
She's been connected to this project for such a long time... she must've done the voice-over a few years ago. If only she lended her voice to the animated Buffy...
Yeah, I can't help it, I hear her in my head going 'A cartoon? Well....is it a Buffy cartoon? No? Ok I'll do it.'

Yes I am bitter. Sue me. Ah well, the Buffy cartoon may not even happen...
I'm glad to hear it's still alive. I heard that this project started back in 2002 and Sarah recorded her voice-over at that time. It's an educational film that aims to encourage young people to learn more about space and whatnot. John Travolta, James Earl Jones and Christian Slater lent their voices to this film too. I wonder if this is going to be released commercially, though.
WHATTTT???? She did a one-shot educational film BUT ISNT MAKING A COMMITTMENT TO BUFFFFY CRATOON!!!???!?!?!1? I AHTE SMG!
LOL Ringworm! This was a project that she signed on some time ago. She quit Buffy because she wanted to move on so what's the big deal if she doesn't want to do a Buffy cartoon. And wouldn't it be nice to have one story about SMG without the inevitable not so positive comments. It would be nice to discuss just the article and the project posted.
I didn't even think of the Buffy cartoon until I read the comments here. It does make sense though. Doing a Buffy cartoon might take a long-standing committment, whereas I'm sure a one-shot educational film would be wrapped up in no time. And yes, I do hope ringworm's comment was an amusing overexaggeration of the usual SMG debate.
Hey, first SMG didn't 'do' conventions, now look. And before, she didn't 'do' cartoons, and see how far we've come! Granted, neither the convention nor cartoon has to do with Buffy. I think I see what the thing is....she will participate in many things, so long as they don't relate to Buffy! Her prerogative, but I can still grumble about it.....

And just tangentially, I thought this was funny from the Comicon site: "Ms. Gellar, the star of TV’s fan favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the big-screen smash-hit Scooby Doo, is one of Comic-Con’s most requested stars. Be there and be part of this historic occasion!"

Funny because, well, she probably IS the most requested star, but I wonder what she's most known and requested for......I'll have to think on this one.....toughy....Not sure I can figure it.....

I'm so curious to see how this event will go. I still think that none of it should be about Buffy, but I'm sure it will be, so I'll be there and soak up what info I can.
It's nice to know that SMG is showing up in Comiccon's largest venue, a six thousand seat theatre, with the cast of The Grudge showing up beside her. She at least will get support from all the Sam Raimi (executive producer: Spiderman, Evil Dead, Hercules, and Xena) and Ted Raimi fans, who will probably show up in droves. Sony studios is definitely going to put up a good show.

I don't know what all the fuss about voiceover work is all about. It's not like Sarah Michelle Gellar hasn't proven that she can be a working voiceover actress. Look at the IMDB.com, it lists at least seven voiceover credits.

Voice over work done by Sarah Michelle Gellar:
Television series:
King of the Hill (1997) ep:They call it Bobby love
Hercules (1998) ep: Hercules and the falling star
God the Devil and Bob (2000) ep: There's too much sex on tv
The Simpsons (2004) ep: The wandering juvie

Feature Film:
Small Soldiers (1998) Gwendy Doll
Happily N'ever After (2005) Cinderella

The project mentioned in this thread was originally called 2004: A Light Knight's Odyssey and she did do the voice sometime in S6 of Buffy. It is an educational program and, odds are, from the long list of star castmembers, all performances were made for free (or whatever is the minimim allowed by SAG regulations.) It is a educational series designed for Imax broadcast. At one point, there was a website showing the preliminary artwork and voiceovers by the actors. SMG plays Ranger. One of Buffy's first season composers, Shawn Clement, is also listed as part of the project.

Happily N'ever After is an animated feature from one of the producers of Shrek and features the voice talents of both Gellar and Freddie Prinze, Jr. It is one of a series of films based on twisted fairytales. The voiceover work was done in S6 of Buffy and animation is scheduled to finish for fall of 2004.

As for the Buffy animated series, IMHO the artwork looks terrible. None of the actors look like their animated counterparts. Which means, IMHO, that Mutant Enemy never meant for the original actors to do the voiceover work to begin with. Why would any actor want to do a project that doesn't even remotely resemble themselves? Buffy quite frankly looks awful. At the moment,Buffy animated is just a trial balloon. No network has picked it up. At last count, it was being run by a fifteen year old son of a producer. So Alyson, Nick and ASH are doing voiceovers. Big deal. It hasn't progressed beyond an advertising pitch to entice a network.
