Official 'Serenity' website coming soon. Universal Pictures adds synopsis link in the "In Production" column. In other news, Jewel Staite confirms that Ron Glass and Alan Tudyk did almost drop out of the movie.

Oh, I didn't realise that Chronicles of Riddick was also done under the Universal banner...

Universal were desperate for a sci-fi franchise, and Riddick is what they chose - if Riddick ends up not being successful enough for them... maybe Serenity came swoop in and take it's place - God knows it's less than half the budget of Riddick

Maybe Universal had already given up on Riddick before it was released and that's why they got Joss to do the movie for them

Oh, I'm all excited now

I love wishful thinking

"Jewel Staite confirms that Ron Glass and Alan Tudyk did almost drop out for the movie."

Anyone know why? I mean.. another chance to finish what they've begun, work with friends and make alot more money can't be a bad thing, can't it? And it's not FOX. It's Universal! :)
Well the report did say 'schedule conflicts' so they must have been involved in other movies. Maybe Ron Glass was up for a Barney Miller big screen remake.
Per IMDB Tudyk's in 4 movies due out 2004 but Glass isn't quite so busy ... I guess because the Barney Miller reunion movie is being done on the qt ;-)
If that means their screen-time in the movie had to be scaled back as well, I wouldn't really mind. At least it'd be true to the show. Any scenes of theirs would probably end up being deleted in favor of more River anyway.
I'm speculating that Wash is the character mentioned in the AICN report as having much less screentime than the rest of the cast. Tudyk's career is really taking off; he's got a prime role in the upcoming I, Robot as the voice of Sonny, and several other projects in the works. I can understand how this was hard for him to fit into his schedule. As for Ron Glass, who knows?
Ron Glass is ungrateful scum. And he's anorexic. and fat.
I didn't know Chiwetel Ejiofor was in it. Was this mentioned before? Maybe it slipped past me.
Confusing...Glass seemed almost bereft in the special features on the DVD set...I would have thought he was almost desperate to get back to Firefly...
narky, even if you were trying to joke in your post don't be abusive here.
