Not to sure on the idea of Serenity looking different, hopefully it's not too different, and they haven't trekified it, clean white/grey walls everywhere, huge viewscreen taking up most of the bridge, but then that's ridiculous. Hopefully it'll only be little things.
Why couldn't my holiday have been a month earlier, by the time I'll be on the Universal tour filming'll have wrapped up, ah well.

It's very cool and very nice. I may happen more often these days but the only other example that I personally know of is Ian McKellen who kept a blog of sorts while filming X-Men, knowing how many people were eager for it. He also occasionally answered email questions. And don't get me wrong but I always thought it was extra nice seeing how he's a bit of an elderly gentleman already. I just expect someone like that to be less in tune to current young people and things like internet, not more.
Come to think of it, I also know Kevin Smith had a column on a website once about making one of his movies, (every week a new chapter)but that site died after a few months. Maybe he continued it elsewhere, I don't know.
But it's just really nice. Hope Nathan will keep it up too. So they're moving to Universal City. That's about 15 min from here. Argn. Must not climb over fences, must not climb over fences....

No need to climb over fences - take the tour! At least one person (I believe here at Whedonesque) has reported taking the Universal Pictures tour with a guide (obviously a fan) who pointed out set construction for the movie months ago.

In this case though I'd be tempted to slip out of the cart and hide. Then pretend I'm part of the crew....a gaffer.....uh, or a gopher.....gofer....uhm...a key grip? I don't know....

Some changes in the ship and stuff were inevitable, given that there was next to nothing retained from the old sets, so this isn't a surprise. I'm hoping for more Bladerunner than ST:NG, though. I feel pretty certain whatever ME does with that $50 million budget, they won't disappoint.

Yep, hehehe. And I also read once that a young Spielberg snuck into a studio, found an empty office and put his name on the door, put his stuff in and pretended to work there. Apparently that worked too! Especially the 'pretend you know what you're doing' bit is important!
"I'm hoping for more Bladerunner than ST:NG"
Okay. Here I am. An SF/Fantasy/Movie/TV/Comic geek, and I don't know what you mean by ST:NG. It's late and I'm sure I will kick myself, but what is it? Starship Troopers? What's the NG?
Anyway, whatever it is, I agree you can't go wrong with the Blade Runner look. But I'm sure they'll get that right. Dirty, old and realistic. Not all clean and plastic. Not the steril, bright perfection of many other SF shows since Star Tre-.......
Star Trek: Next Generation.....okay. Got it. That was funny. So funny I'm not even rewriting this post. Guess we're on the same page anyhoo. Gawd I gotta go to bed....kick, kick....

And on another note, I can't wait to see the trailer, hope it's better than the one for the DVD. Which was kinda dull.

Oh, and EdDantes - regarding the Spielberg sneaking into the studio thing, it's something he enjoys telling everyone who asks him how he got into the biz (and more recently, why he was drawn to "Catch me if you Can") - yet many others claim that this story belongs to the realm of fiction.

Is that there yer high-falutin' way of sayin' it ain't true?? ; )
Rogue Slayer | June 21, 00:12 CET
Ayup, that promo has no sense of the show at all. Standard trailer trash.

Anti | June 21, 02:45 CET
Well, you write it well. What's your native lingo?
Rogue Slayer | June 21, 06:42 CET
There was a fan Times Square type billboard...can't find it anywhere...had Mal standing hyper-tall...if anybody saved it or knows where it is, I'd be much obliged.
But, damn, that trailer is just lame beyond words.

Very good Drifter. Can I use it?
