'The Grudge' trailer. Featuring Sarah Michelle Gellar of course.

Is it just me or she wearing the exact same sweater that Buffy wore in "The Yoko Factor"? How odd. As for the preview itself, it's hard to judge. There doesn't seem to be that much actual footage.
We debated earlier about the sweater. I think the general consensus was that it was the same sweater. As for the preview, well it left me intrigued. I'll try and go and see when it comes out. I'm a fan of Sarah's acting, when she has the right material she is very good indeed.
Wholeheartedly concur, Simon. I'll pretty much see SMG in anything that sounds half-way decent (which, alas, for me does not include ritalin-inducing flicks like SD2). Really don't care if she never gets that A-list fame (except as it affects her opportunities for future work) just so long as she finds some dramatic projects worthy of her ability.
It looks like your basic horror flick to me, which I love, so I know I'll be there.

And I agree, looks like the same sweater. But what are the odds of that?
themoviebox.net has a bunch of different versions.

I'm so not a fan of that trailer. Though I like that it doesnt tell us a thing, because surprises are so important in horror movies... it has to entice us somehow. And showing her walking slowly, and then mixing in flashes of "scary" stuff isnt the way to do it.

I'll go see it on blind faith, of course, but unless they get a better trailer, I dont know anyone else that will.
It opens October 29th.

I was also struck by how unscary that trailer is. toto666 has posted a copy of the commercial for Entertainment Tonight that ran Friday. It's a bit scarier.

I loved that trailer, I thought it was excellent. Definitely creeped me out. So is it October yet or what? I'm antsy!
Yeah more creepy, less scary. It has a great look to it. Interesting color choices.
Excellent trailer. Not much actual footage? Nonsense, it was all actual footage. I don't know what much else you can expect from a trailer for a movie like this. Things have to stay secret or it will detract from the actual movie watching. It was far better than I was expecting. Even the graphics that glued the scenes together were ominous and gave great atmosphere.

My only gripe is that many elements seemed lifted straight from 'The Ring'. Are all Japanese horror movies modelled after that now? Do they all have sacry ghostly japanese children? I hope there will be little similarities other than surface ones.

And slow, methodical and creepy will always win out over gore and shock effects. "The Ring" (which I found a vast improvement over the original 'Ringu', yeah I said it) was one of the few movies in my life that actually manage to severely creep me out. To activate the fear of the dark in our minds, by things that we *almost* see is the true art of scary movies.

Looks good. Looking forward to it. And another good thing; it looks like the type of scary movie that gives Sarah an actual lead role, and not just a 'scared screaming pretty girl that runs from man with chainsaw' type of thing.
This movie looks hot! I am glad to see that this October looks very promising for horror movies! Seed of Chucky, Cursed, and The Grudge, this halloween is going to be great for movies...strangely this movie will be released around the same time as Buffy season 7. This movie looks a lot better than it sounded, the synopsis didn't really enitce me, but the trailer kind of sold me, and plus SMG is the star...always a plus. Hope ,more in depth trailers are released soon. Can't wait for this movie!
I'll have to skip this one - too creepy for my tastes.
That's quite interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing this movie although I'm not a big fan of horror films. Sarah's out early promoting it and she's even doing a convention. :) She either really believes in this movie or it's all a part of her contract. I'd like to think it's the former.

Btw, the official site is up but there's nothing much there yet: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/thegrudge/site/

I also found clips at SMGFan from Entertainment Tonight: http://www.smgfan.com/news.htm
I hadn't thought much of this movie until seeing that trailer. Pretty spooky and creepy. Nice.
I agree...it certainally has the creep factor. I love horror movies and absolutely loved The Ring. I cannot tell you how much disdain I have for trailers that give the movie away...I think this trailer was excellent...just enough to make you want more. I will definitely be there!
looks spooky to me, i know im going to it, dont have much to say
