The seven most romantic TV couples. Buffy and Angel make number two on the list.

Uh, okay, sure, whatever.

The not-so-funny-if-you-think-about-it thing about Buffy and Angel being this person's No 2 Romance is that some people really do believe that it's just soooo romantic when a girl who's just seventeen years old loses her virginity to a guy - and then he becomes a monster as soon as he's had her.

When this happens in *real life*, it ain't so romantic, folks.
One would hope that that is not the part that they view as being romantic. Granted it is mentioned in the article, but I'm hoping the love against all odds, star-crossed, etc. aspect is what helps Buffster and Angel make the list. Of course when I lost my soul to a gypsy curse in Real Life... just kidding.
Yeah, poor example of their romantic love. There were many great Buffy/Angel romantic scenes that could've been used as an example, both before and after they consummated their love. They basically picked the worst possible moment of their relationship (maybe Buffy having to kill him was pretty bad too!)
I think one of the most romantic scenes is when Angel comes to comfort Buffy after Joyce dies. She's just standing by the grave and he comes up and slips his hand into hers.

Gaah! Gets me every time.

Then they spend the whole night by the big tree, talking and snuggling and trying not to - oh well, you guys know the scene...
Do you really view sitting next to one's dead mother's freshly filled-in grave engaging in "snuggling" while supposedly resisting an all-so-powerful urge to do the Wild Thing as *romantic*?

That's just....ewwww.

I know. I'm being a devil. It's just so quiet around here these days...
I don't think they just sat down next to a tree next to Joyce's grave. I think they just found a quiet spot and sat together. And yes, being there for someone just because they need you too is romantic, and yes, people tend to turn to each other for comfort in times like that. Not necessarily for the passion and because they are turned on, but because they need to feel alive and loved and comforted.

And yes, when Buffy is just standing there, sad, and Angel comes up next to her and just slips his hand into hers, is a very sweet and romantic moment. Romance isn't all about sex. One of my favorite moments is after Angel comes back from Hell and he's still healing, he and Buffy are standing side by side doing Tai Chi. Neither is talking but their movements beautifully mirror each other and as they turn and stretch their arms up and out he puts his arms around her. That moment always gets me.
Buffy/Angel as a couple in general was one of the most romantic couple in the Buffyverse. The only other couple that comes close is Willow/Oz, and maybe Willow/Tara.
The most romantic BTVS scene for me:
When Anya slaps Xander after he asks her to marry him.
Well, one's opinion of what's romantic is really quite personal, isn't it? It's affected by a lot of things - one's age, one's life experience, even one's cultural background influence it. While I was thinking about not deviling you folks any more, I found myself realizing that this list says a whole lot more about the person making the list than it does about the couples themselves, and a person could gain some insight into their own issues about love and romance by making such a list and then analyzing it for the common denominators.
I'm stuck for a "most romantic TV couple" right now, but if I were to make a most romantic list, I would point to a classic movie, "It Happened One Night" as my idea of romance.
The last few episodes of Buffy alone, in terms of the Spike/Buffy relationship, where beautifully done. And seem more poignant than a lot of Buffy/Angel moments (not all. Like the Becoming kiss.). So that's another one to add, nychick.

I've to say though, I... love the Buffy and Angel relationship. But I don't think people even put thought into these lists. They're just choosing Buffy/Angel because that's so memorable. It was the first one and was the base for Season 2 and a lot of the conflict in Season 3. It's a nice one, but not the best.
