Alan Tudyk Brings "I, Robot's" Sonny to Life. "Alan Tudyk's one of those actors that when you mention his name to people, there's that vague look of recognition but they can't quite put their finger on where they know him from."

"Of course, none of those prompts are necessary when you talk to any "Firefly" fan. Joss Whedon's too-soon-canceled TV series has a huge following of ardent fans."

He seems to be doing a lot at the moment, I, Robot isn't that high on my "movies-to-see" list, but he's very funny as a man convinced he's a pirate in Dodgeball.

Hasn't his role in Serenity been made smaller to fit into his busy schedule?
I remember him most readily from the Sandra Bullock movie 28 days. "Look at my package!"...heh.
There's a little bit about Alan on the set of the film here as well.
He's one of those guys, once you know who they are, you realize you've already seen him in a lot of movies, e.g. when I watched The Knight's Tale again, there he was.
This is one of the few films I'm looking forward to seeing (not sure how close it stays to the original story).

And here's a pic of Alan at the premiere of "I, Robot".
The story at its core has nothing to do with the original collection of short stories. It started as an unrelated script, and the producers decided they could make more money by throwing a veneer of Asimov on it.
Gotta love Hollywood.
Getty has some more pictures of Alan at the premiere and after-party.

The movie itself has an interesting concept, but honestly I'm not too sure I could tolerate Will Smith for that long.
Wow Alan looks all spit and polished, doesn't he Simon? Thanks for the picture, you too Faith. Funny how I don't see a bit of Wash in that pic.
From the clips I've seen, the movie looks like typical Hollywood way over the top, hyper-produced drivel. Sorry, Alan, I'll have to wait for "Serenity" to see you in the movies.

Speaking of Serenity, my wife and I watched the first (double) episode of Firefly again last night (yes, we have no lives at all), and we were remarking on how good Alan is in it, along with everybody else, too, particularly the scene where Shepherd Book is essentially confessing to and being absolved by Inara, which could have easily been terribly overdone but was instead remarkably affecting.

But Wash's appearance with the dinosaurs is still one of my favorites.
I saw an extended preview when I took my son to see Spider-Man 2. It looks exciting to me! I love summer movies. Nobody's trying to do Shakespeare here, and it just looks like a huge, menacing super duper popcorn flick!

I do take exception with the fact they are using Asimov's title though. Even though it does bear some resemblance to the story, it takes it waaay beyond what Asimov intended.
Simon, that picture makes him looks like one of the contestants in Trump's You're Fired show

Willowy, I should have been more specific...I meant to say that the clips I saw bore very little resemblance to the Asimov stuff my mom and dad introduced me to decades ago, hence my unhappiness.

Not a big moviegoer in any event here--haven't seen one in a theater in over 4 years.

But I will see one (hopefully many, many times) next year!
'I, Robot' does look like Hollywood bullocks, but it is directed by Alex Proyas... who is that amazing man that did 'The Crow' and 'Dark City' and 'Garage Days' - so I'm tempted to check it out... but Will Smith... eeessssh
