Marvel "pleased" with Astonishing X-Men. Marvel Publisher Dan Buckley tells Newsarama that it's "picking up new readers every week" and confirms that the first issue sold just over 200,000 copies.

All I know is that, for me, Astonishing got me back into comics. I hadn't bought a comic in over 10 years (I'm only 24 now), and now with an adult income I spend quite a bit more on them than I ever did before.

Marvel can thank Joss for the extra $50 a month I give to them.
$50 a month? Marvel really has that many good titles out right now? Or do you mean you spend $50 on comics overall and buy books from a few different publishers?
Hmmm, yeah that's $50 overall I guess. I only spend about half of that on Marvel comics.
I didn't buy a comic book in about 10 years but when i heard that Joss would be writing for Astonishing X-men i had to head over to my local comic book store to pick up a copy.
In the new solicitations for Mavel Comics coming out in October, in issue five, a "classic" character is supposed to make a "shocking return" in issue five. Any guesses? I'm thinking Jean, but that's probably too obvious (not to mention early).
