Update from James Marsters' management. Looks like they are keeping an eye on the casting for the TV movie adaptation of 'Storm Front'.

Um... what's a Dresden book, please, anyone? A book set in Dresden, Germany? About what? Or is that the name of the publisher?
The Dresden books are about a wizard who solves crimes in modern day Chicago.

You can find more details (including clips of James narrating the audio books) at the author's website.
Has anyone read these books? Are they any good? Who are the comparable to?
The Dresden Files are a very good read. They're mysteries told in a first-person narrative, chock-full of supernatural goodies and some witty writing. Mr. Marsters has recorded the audio versions of the first two books in the series and is apparently going to do the third as well. You can check out the reviews on Amazon, of course. The author has a website at www.jim-butcher.com, which also has information about the series.
"rest, exercise and family time"

I think he lives with two little kids, I'm not sure how much rest he gets!! But I wouldn't say no to seeing the results of that exercise!! ; )
His niece lives with him fulltime and is 12 - so pre-teen in his house he is in for so much trouble. Anyone else think that it is funny that he will have his nieces friends crushing on him and his niece will be rolling her eye at him. Oh my this screams sitcom pilot for him. :)

I think his son spends summers with him but then goes back to his mom for the school year
Does anyone know how old his son is?
I'm not singling out anyone here but seeing James is very private when it comes to his son, I think that this should be respected. So it would be appreciated if this thread did not continue down this line of discussion.

True, so his son is probably going or gone by now. God, yes, that would be a hilarious tv show. But at 12....I don't know. I'm not sure if there are a TON of 12 year olds crushing on him. Don't they crush on REALLY youthful types like Leo or Heath Ledger or Orlando Bloom? Whoever happens to be in Teen Beat or Tiger Beat or whatever it's called?!

BTW, does he have a nanny or something for his niece, because his tv schedule was pretty demanding, sometimes 10-12 hours or more a day. Or am I being a lame old person and 12 year olds don't need a babysitter? My little brother and sister are about to turn 12 and it still aggravates me that they get left home alone sometimes when my mother will run to the store or something. They're just babies!!! Also makes me scared because she left them home alone a couple years ago(10 is too young!) and they thought it would be fun to jump on the bed and my brother jumped so high he rammed his head straight into a glass light fixture that broke and gashed his head open! So I'm not all up for the leaving of pre-teens alone!
Um, since my post is about his niece, (and he's relatively open about her) I don't know if it's no-no territory. Feel free to delete if it is.
”Many of you are eager to know James’ next project and have e-mailed with lots of supportive suggestions”

I’m sure the intentions are good, and this seems kinda pushy to me. Give the guy a break! I trust James and his management have an idea of what direction they would like his career to take, but he has to get a foot in the door again to show everyone what he can do because but James’ career is not (yet) at a level where he can pick and choose projects. I’m pleased he’s “taking advantage of this much needed downtime in anticipation of revving back up again” to live life and take a little time for himself.
It will be interesting to see what he does next because that is so unpredictable at the moment. How exciting...or terrifying!

'Supportive suggestions'.....I can just imagine mails with things like, "You would be so great on CSI! You should try to work on that show!!" hehe

Yeah, let him pick his own stuff. I know it is probably well-meaning fans, but James is a big boy and though I have my doubts about his management staff being top notch, I'm sure he'll be able to find worthwhile projects.

I wonder how many of those 'supportive suggestions' consisted of "Do a Spike spin-off!!" :)

I hope James got plenty of mail that said, "We're excited to see what you do next and will support you in whatever you choose."
James has also spoken about his son at conventions especially mentioning that he stays with him over the summer, so also public information. Nothing I posted has not on several occassions been made public by him. If you feel the info I posted is to private like Rouge Slayer said feel free to remove it.

I just hope they weren't written out in icing on a big old cake. That could sabotage all the results of his exercise. : )

The very first post (mine) should actually go here but it jumped to the top after I edited a typo. I also see it is dated November 30th. I must have really dozed off!

I know! That is the most hilarious glitch I've ever seen.

And would it be okay if they wrote it out in icing on his taut tummy?? Yummy....... Okay, it's too early to be having gutter thoughts...right?
I just received the "Storm Front" and "Fool Moon" audio books narrated by James Marsters and written by Jim Butcher.

The stories are wonderful, and the dulcet tones of one Mr. James Marsters makes them come to life. He gives voice to the various characters in the book, which in and of itself makes them entirely enjoyable.

While Storm Front was a wonderful story I found Fool Moon to be completely enthralling.

I highly recommend both audio books to those who love a good story and the wonderful sound of James's voice.
bloodflowers I think I have managed to place your post in the right place. Hopefully this November 30th thing will be sorted out soonish. I'm still trying to work why November 30th? Did some major thing happen in the Jossverse on this day.

Regarding James and his son, I didn't want to see this thread turn into an out and out discussion about his son. I have never seen his child mentioned in an interview with James but I did not know he had mentioned it at conventions. So Rogue and RavenU's posts can stay. And let that be the end of the discussion on that one.

Regarding the suggestive suggestions, I thinks it's cool he's got a strong and loyal fan base. Any network has to take that into consideration when considering a project of his.
Well, November 30th's my birthday, so I just figured that *must* be it ;)

Beyond that, I can't think of a Joss-verse connection.
“Regarding the suggestive suggestions, I thinks it's cool he's got a strong and loyal fan base. Any network has to take that into consideration when considering a project of his.”

I also think it’s really cool James has such loyal fans, just as long as they let him do what he’s gotta do. He must feel some obligation to not alienate people who take out full page ‘thank you’ ads, but it is *his* career. I support whatever challenges him and he feels passionate about because he’s had a long hard struggle. He’s earned it. He deserves it.

I’m certain having a built-in fan base gives him extra bargaining power with networks or studios so hopefully he won’t have to take some stuff just to pay the rent, but who knows? He has as much or more talent than a lot of “stars” but so much in Hollywood is determined by things coming together and luck and being given a chance.

“Okay, it's too early to be having gutter thoughts...right?”
Er, I was imagining ways to help him burn off any extra calories. Hmmm…let me think…

Ok, now it's a more reasonable hour to speak of such things. So, burning extra calories....yeah, I got a few ways in mind...... ;)
Any actor would be far more concerned if they stopped hearing from their fans than would ever be bothered by receiving "supportive suggestions" from them. Marsters is a professional. He knows how to take comments from fans in stride. In fact, I’ve always been impressed by how well he and his management team relates to his fanbase.
fortunateizzi: I don't know if anyone answered your question, (I just skimmed the posts. Sorry if someone already answered!) but James said his son was 8 at Moonlight Rising...
