Adam Baldwin says studio 'robustly enthusiastic'. 'Jayne' drops some more quick notes on filming of Serenity in political (surprise!) thread. No spoilers.

Gettin' the idea that Joss & Co. are working at the top of their form. Still another 258 days [fff.net].

All I can say is... "Coooooooooooooool...".
I think I like Jayne a lot more than I like Adam Baldwin.
"I think I like Jayne a lot more than I like Adam Baldwin. "

Hehe, well Adam seems like a nice enthusiastic, fun loving guy.....and he seems like a guy I'd really have to avoid talking politics with!

But then, I remember other Firefly cast members saying they themselves were pretty much avoiding political discussions with Adam by now ;-)
LOL! I should have put a warning on my news post: "There Be Dragons! Do not stray from the path. Read only the single post. Or you will turn into stone."
In a later reply in the same thread, Adam (the Jayne guy) goes on to say:

"NBCUniversal is absolutely great!
Their marketing division is the best in the business!
We are so very lucky to be on board with them!

Serenity,

A.B.
("robustly enthusiastic") "

---end quote.

Personal story: Each year at the Toronto International Film Festival, Universal Studios funds the entire volunteer program, a substantial investment in the hundreds of (wonderful) volunteers who are outfitted, equipped and partied every year.

I was always impressed by that even before Universal greenlighted the film. They also funded the lovely promotional canvas bags given to each ticket buyer (that's me) for their catalogues and order forms, etc.
fraying -- methinks its best not to judge whether you would like a person by their political viewpoints. I work with some people with whom I can argue politics all day long and then we go out and get some beers and sit down to watch some Buffy or play D&D. I also happen to agree with a lot of what Adam says. If I were to meet Joss I would have to avoid politics because I like to think of him as a smart man ;) While a lot of people avoid politics to avoid argument, I think just as many if not more avoid argument to avoid having to defend beliefs that they may not have a rational basis for. That goes for lefties and righties.
It's also true that, according to Jewel Staite, Adam just likes to argue. About anything! Some folks are like that. :) To all accounts he's a super-nice guy despite liking to rile folks up, though. I love that he hangs out at the OB so much. Any news he can pass along to the Browncoats, he does. And whenever he's met anyone he "knows" from the OB, he's been a doll to them.

I like all the actors of Firefly/Serenity so much; they all seem like such fantastic people, and while I would love the show just as much, knowing they are all friends just adds to my affection. As much as I love Buffy and Angel, I never felt like a part of the fandom. With Firefly, the solidarity behind the scenes makes it seem more real - in the sense of something existing besides moments caught on film. There really is a Firefly "entity" to feel a part of.
If I judged people by their political views I'd have to totally avoid my mother! Her beliefs are totally opposite of mine and to keep peace, I just insist we don't talk politics. Other than that, we get along great! So I could very well see getting along great with AB even though I don't agree with his opinions. He just seems to have that fun twinkle in his eyes (and yes, those are the ones who do like to argue just for the fun of it) and he's probably a blast to hang around with.
zencat -- I got started late on Buffy fandom and caught up just in time for buffy s7 and angel s4. Having caught Firefly straight away, it has a special place in my heart :) I can definitely see where you are coming from.

blwessels -- I went through some pretty heavy arguments with my mom in re: both religion and politics so I am SO with you on that. I get the feeling that all of our BDHs would be a lot of fun to hang out with. If only... ;)
Don't judge on political views alone. Adam is a really nice guy. My husband was an extra in Independence Day (they recruited ROTC guys to play the military extras) and Adam let all of the ROTC guys use his trailer. My husband had nothing but nice things to say about him. By the way, I love this site -- longtime lurker, firstime poster!
