Seth Green speaks to TV Guide Online about 'Family Guy' and his upcoming movie 'Without a Paddle'. He also reveals, with perhaps a tinge of regret, that he has not been approached for Buffy: Animated.

I just think Seth's a really great guy. He's always said he would love to come back, and has never been dismissal of the franchise. Even when he was filming his final three episodes (As a regular) of Buffy, he still went across to Angel for an episode. Plus, also funny. He's not a bad actor either! I hope the film does well and (having bought all three seasons of Family Guy [Stewie is my idol]) I'm looking forward to Season Four. I also wish him well for the future.
It's been a long time since I watched season 1 of Buffy, but didn't Oz appear in season 2? By sounds of it the cartoon is going to start from season 1, but with the inclusion of Dawn, so Oz wouldn't be in it at the start anyway.
Maybe the Buffy animated show takes place pre-Oz?

In tangentially related news, Seth speaks about the possiblity of another Austin Powers movie (bottom of article).
Last I heard, show-runner Jeph Loeb was merely working on a 10-minute "presentation" screener for potential buyers. Hence he only used three former Buffyians. (Is that a word?) I don't think the show is sold yet so I think it's premature to assume BtAS has set casting plans without Green.
Well I dunno Drifter, I would imagine some sort of heads up would be given to potential cast members so they can check their schedules just in case the series gets the green light.
Since the animated series involves Principle Snyder that would put it in Season 2 - when Snyder was introduced. Then again they are also adding Dawn into the series - so it seems they are completely re-writing the shows history. Was Oz ever mentioned after season 4 - maybe the monks erased him :)

Although Seth himself was not only at the Buffy wrap party - he cameback to do comentary for the Buffy DVD releases as well and he is an expert at voice over work when it comes to animated series and I would love it if they add him to the animated series.
They must have Oz. They simply must.
Snyder was mostly definitely in Season 1. His introduction in "The Puppet Show" is classic!

"That's the kind of woolly-headed, liberal thinking that leads to being eaten."

Actually, Snyder was introduced in episode 9 of season 1, a few episodes after the original principal was eaten in "The Pack".

Yeah, by Xander, though I don't remember which episode. But he said "I miss Oz" when realizing he was making a bunch of references none of his girl friends understood. Pretty sure that was either season 5 or 6.
Also when he was talking to Dawn about being the normal one (season 7), he said he could fit Oz in his toolbox or something along those lines, but that he had the wolfie mojo.
teenes, "I Was Made to Love You", S5.15. Xander: "Too many girls. I miss Oz. He'd get it. He wouldn't say anything, but...he'd get it." Great moment.

Willowy: "Potential", S7.12. Xander: "Hell, I could fit Oz in my shaving kit, but come a full moon, he had a wolfy mojo not to be messed with." Just before X's wonderful speech to Dawnie.

You guys rock with the memory thing.

And to add to what Apocalypse said above, let's all remember that Seth came back to do the commentary for "Wild At Heart" way after he had left the series for good. The boy deserves mucho recognition.
SoddingNancyTribe thanks for the clarification! Shaving kit, that was it...

I loved that line. What a neat little tribute to a long-gone character (much beloved as he was).
It's funny. I loved Oz's character. So when Tara came in I was kinda "Eh, bring back Oz!". And of course by the time Tara died I was like: "Ahh!! They killed Tara! Noo!"

Another loss in Angel season 6 is that Joss wanted to bring Oz in the fold. I wonder if Seth even knows about that?

Also, if those character TV movies actually happen, I wonder what other Buffy people could be in it, and Oz would be a great one to bring back, maybe for a Willow movie. He can sweep her off her feet again, hehe. (And eat Kennedy....)
Maybe Oz and Nina could've found wolfie love. Although I like your scenario better, Ed. Anything having to do with Kennedy's demise gets my vote.
Here's a wierd thought - in episode Anne - Lily makes the comment that she use to hang out with a loser preacher - wouldn't it be funny if it was Caleb.:)

Just a thought.

Would Anne be alive it if were Caleb? :) I always thought she was referring to Carlos Jacott's character...
Don't think so, Ubqtous. Lily hadn't met Ken when she made that comment to Buffy. But I agree that she wouldn't have lasted that long if it had been Caleb, being a girl and all.

And I third the consumption of Kennedy. The eating of the characters seemed to dry up after Snyder - and I for one really missed that.
