'Whedon is the X Man' says a studio insider. A source for Moviehole.net also hears that Joss has signed on the dotted line for X-Men 3.

I'm really hoping this is announced in Variety of The Hollywood Reporter tonight or at least soon...If after all these weeks of ifs and maybes this doesn't actually happen, I'm gonna be crushed.
Well my gut instinct says we will hear very soon one way or the other. But tis interesting that AICN hasn't commented on the very recent rumours.
Part of me wonders if the reason we haven't heard anything yet is because the decision is still being made and no one wants to jinx it (amusingly, not unlike when this same thing happened before Joss signed on to write 'Astonishing X-Men'). That's what I'm hoping, anyways...
Yeah, AICN hasn't said a thing which is really strange. Even if they think it's bogus they usually have a link saying just that. And there's more than a few Whedon fans on there. Hm. Dark Horizons mentioned this very news too (Click here ) with a link to yet another site.

Then again, AICN has been dropping the ball every now and then lately. (I still can't believe they had no eulogy whatsoever for Peter Ustinov. Sorry, I digress severely.)

Anyway this sounds more and more solid. Man, that would be so great. As for the remark that Brian Singer might still be involved somehow...hm, I'm not so sure how Joss and Singer would be together. I think Joss is still a little sore about how that went down with his X1 script.
this would be too good to be true, but i hope it is - the x-men films are the only blockbuster films that I really like, and if Joss is at the helm? Ooooh man, please be true!
I need a confirmation!
I'm still calling this a rumor until we hear it from Joss himself. Though I must admit these sources have been fairly reliable in the past. My biggest question (if this is true) is will Joss have the opportunely to write the script or merely direct? I so hope the former is true because a Joss written X-men would be awesome.
I imagine that even if he didn't write the original script he would be able to put his old script doctoring skills to the test and do a bit of a rewrite.

If this is true it would be VERY cool, but until the announcement is made from the studio or Joss, it's just a rumour.
Btw, Joss has pretty much said that if he didn't get to write it, he wouldn't want to do it.
