Angel Season 5 Broadcast on TNT. On the TNT TV website, in the Angel section under "Upcoming Episodes" it appears that TNT will be showing Angel, Season 5 episodes starting on Monday, September 27,2004 here in the 'States at 5:00 P.M. Eastern time....

Does anyone know if TNT edits the episodes like FX does with Buffy? And if they're in widescreen? I have a friend who needs to see season 5, but if they're going to be chopped up and in full screen I think I'll find another way.
It's going to TNT like it will go into syndication - so expect some chopping - which comes by the way of FOX doing it not TNT.
It also says that they are going to start showing season 1 at 7 in the morning now right before Charmed just like it is in the afternoons. They may not be i fullscreen if I remember correctly when they first got tyhe rights to Angel they showed season 4 in widdescreen on Tuesday nights. But maybe I'm remembering wrong.
I never watch the TNT repeats but I may record some of these, since I accidentally didn't get a few off of my Tivo in time this year and the DVDs don't come out until next year. Plus, for some reason my tape from "Soul Purpose" through "Smile Time" is all messed up. Even if it's chopped for syndication, it's better than nothing!

Thanks!
My VCR gobbled up my tape of the last four eps, so I'm happy that TNT will be showing s5, even if the eps are cut a bit. I can make another tape to get me through until February. Yippee!

I thought it was wierd that FX would chop Buffy, considering the other things they show. I mean have you seen that last few episodes of Nip/Tuck? They're really pushing the boundaries of basic able.
sTalking_Goat, the chopping of Buffy on FX doesn't have anything to do with broadcast standards. They cut bits out of the show so they have more time for commercials. It's a standard practice for many shows on all networks that are syndicated.

Yeah, Tuesday's Nip/Tuck had quite the "Eeeewwwww!!" moment, didn't it?
I always thought the chopping occurred more to gain advertising time than to cut content, but I could be wrong. Would be interesting to know for sure.

edited to say, "oops, answered the question then saw miss_tress already did..."

I love Nip/Tuck. It's on at 10:00 at night and has a parental warning at the beginning making it clear that its not a kids show. Plus, it's cable so they don't follow the same standards as the networks. I'm glad there's something on television that's geared toward adults. Both Buffy and Angel were on earlier in the evening when they originally aired and the syndicated shows are on in the middle of the day when kids are watching. I suspect the edits are designed to fit in more advertising rather than addressing content concerns though. Anyway Nip/Tuck is clearly geared toward a different audience. Besides, its not like Buffy or Angel never pushed any boundaries.
The thing that really annoys me about the Angel reruns on TNT is that they don't have commercials after the credits, which would normally be a good thing, except that they then change all the act breaks because of that. Completely ruins the structure of the episodes.
MindPieces, it has been several months since I've last viewed AtS on TNT so forgive me if the situation has changed since. AtS is aired in the wide screen format and pop up ads are few and far between. TNT's editing and commercial breaks are a bit choppy, but not as bad as BtVS on FX. I found TNT airing of AtS acceptable.
