Buffy and Angel season 1 DVDs on sale for 15 dollars each at Amazon.com. Which is quite the bargain.

And I thought I got a good deal. Oh well.
Dang, and I just bought Roswell season 1. Oh, well.
If Firefly had lasted another season, I bet it would be listed on there too.
Well buy a boxset for a friend or family member for Xmas and convert a non-believer :).
I'm buying all four seasons of Angel and also Firefly for my brother for Xmas. Guess I'm starting my shopping early. Thanks for the tip!
Ahaha, I procrastinated exactly long enough! I win!
Quite a bargain indeed...just ordered one of each for "loaners". That's kind of like a drug dealer saying "First one is on the house"!
Fox did this for first seasons here in the UK last year, wasn't nearly as good an offer as this though, they were selling them for 16.99, which I thought was a good offer, this is brilliant though, shame I've got all the ones I want from that selection.

In other DVD type news, an insert in the region 2 Roswell season 3 box set claims that Angel season 5 will be released in February 2005, same month as the US release.
Holy moly! Thanks for the heads up!
Yes, thanks! I have birthdays coming up (and there's always Christmas) so this was a handy surprise.

Thought I'd mention there appears to be a limit on purchase quantities, at least on the Angel S1. It would only allow up to 3 purchases. I don't know if the Buffy one also has limits.
Hey! Good time to buy some and donate to your local library! If you do, let the Whedonverse Multimedia Project know so a tally can be kept of fans individual contributions.

Yes, that was a shameless plug.
Holy Hellmouth! I don't have either of these yet on DVD, and my VHS tapes are gettin' kinda raggedy. Glad I waited; now see me making a beeline for the credit card as soon as I get home.
This is an amazing deal, especially the Angel season since it's a full 22-episode one. Wow!

To anyone in the U.K.: did Amazon UK follow up their Buffy/Angel Season 1 deals with further season deals? If so, that bodes well for us No. American folks. Right now on Amazon US you can periodically buy Buffy seasons 1-4 for $118, which is a very good deal. The price keeps fluctuating between $189 and $118 so you have to catch them when they're at $118. Weird. And right now you can get Angel 1-3 for $99. Also a great deal.

But neither of those current multiple season Amazon US deals come close to $14.99 per season. I'm still reeling. Yowza!
All Buffy sets were on sale at most online retailers over the summer at around 18 for S1, 28 for other seasons. That's about 65% off I think.
All R2 Buffy and Angel box sets are 34.97 on amazon.co.uk. You can probably find season one on the highstreet cheaper than the 26.97 that they're offering.
Well, if you don't mind a box with a few Asian characters on it, you can get Buffy seasons 1-7 R1 pretty cheap in a collected edition. We just got ours in the mail, it was less than $100 from Ebay(and that includes shipping!) It's all official, but it's the Asian edition. Some Asian characters on the outer box and on the dvd's, but since we had versions from France, Australia, and the US, we didn't mind it. And it's nice to have it in one set.
Rogue Slayer, how is your collected set packaged? Is it like the R2 one that's going to sell in November with the supposedly leatherette box and all?

What harm are a few Asian characters? None, I say! Kind of cool, actually.
If its got asian characters and is R1 then its not officiai. It may work just like the official one yes, but Asia has no region 1. Its a bootlegger.
Those are such great prices!:)Unfortunatley, I already have both seasons on dvd.I would've bought it if I didn't have it already.
No, it's not like that one. Here's a pic of ours: http://i17.ebayimg.com/02/i/02/90/f8/bb_2.JPG

The dvds are in clear plastic slips, sorta bound together by season. Hubby wants something more decorative, so he's working on alternate envelopes for them, hehe.

Well, then it's a very good quality bootlegger. We can never play copied dvd's in our dvd player, but these play just fine. And it was 'factory sealed', but I suppose you can buy a sealer.
What region is Asia? Because I can't imagine if they don't have region 1 that they would make these copies with Asian writing and subtitle option. If they're bootlegging for the US, they'd just make non-Asian packaging. And if they're not bootlegging specifically for other regions, they'd just make it in their 'home' region, whatever that may be.

Well, bootleg or not, it works and looks official(package and viewing quality are top notch), so it's good enough for me. And the whole box is about the size of printer paper and maybe 3 inches high, so much nicer for space saving than our old collection.

I think yours are "0" region and not region 1. The zero regions play in all players.

Did the Asian ones come with all the extras? That's a great deal for that price. I've been eyeing some other series on DVD on Ebay that are Asian copies but I was nervous about it. Glad to see you guys got a great deal and it makes me feel better about possibly bidding on one of the ones I'm interested in.

Well, we have a region free dvd player, so region isn't really the problem we usually have. I think it has to do with the +/- issue, but we just have the hardest time playing copied dvds. For some reason, we can play them in our Playstation, but not our dvd player. But then our Playstation doesn't let us fast forward or anything, so we usually end up watching on our computers.

Yeah, we have all the R1 extras, which is what we were concerned about also. As a matter of fact, we now have one commentary that we are missing from our Euro/Aussie versions. The one with Seth Green commenting. Forget which epi it is though. Yeah, we were nervous too, not knowing what to expect quality-wise for such a cheap price. But I always check feedback on Ebay. Sometimes you can get an idea of what you're getting into.

But like I said, whatever version these dvd's are, they work and look good, so I'm happy.

0 - No Region Coding
1 - United States of America, Canada
2 - Europe, including France, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Arabia, Japan and South Africa
3 - Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Borneo and Indonesia
4 - Australia and New Zealand, Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America
5 - India, Africa, Russia and former USSR countries
6 - Peoples Republic of China
7 - Unused
8 - Airlines/Cruise Ships

I suspect that region free dvd players are more common in Asia and other parts of the world due to availability (or lack thereof) of titles available for their region, hence the reason for a Asian DVD in region 1 format. Although, if you bought it off Ebay I'd be skeptical. They may indeed be good quality, but they may not be the official DVD distribution.

I have a region free DVD player and I love it! I can now watch some British comedies that aren't available on DVD in the States.
For those of you with region free DVD players, I have one word to say: SPACED.
(British comedy - season one came out in 1999, season two in 2001. Same people who made "Shaun Of the Dead" - except it's a *lot* funnier).

And yes, this is not the first time I've plugged the show here, but, honestly, it's *really* funny - and there's a couple of great Buffy-related moments, so clearly Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson, the writers/creators, are fans.
sweet! I don't have any of the Angel DVD's yet so I'll have to get this along with preordering Buffy 7.
This is extremely tempting, but I think I'll still hold out for complete boxed sets of both series.

And damn it, I just bought 24 last month...though it was on sale at Future Shop for about $28 Canadian, so I shouldn't complain too loudly.

There're a lot of these deals popping up lately in actual stores for first seasons of TV shows. It's great to see, but I hope later seasons of shows go on sale soon too. I have a bunch of first seasons that were bought for cheap, but I've been holding out on later sets (for example, I've got Futurama S1 and would love to have 2-4, but I keep seeing little price drops here and there. So I wait).

I have to second this plug as I agree with it completely. Spaced is funnier than Shaun Of The Dead, and is my favourite British show of the past 5 years, if not more. In fact they've just released a 3 dvd set of both seasons (which since I have the individual dvds is somewhat annoying - I want the 3rd dvd with the extra extras!)
