"The Grudge" is the Third Biggest October Opening of all Time according to this article from itnews.it which is just incredible for everyone involved. It also reports on the average amount of intake from each theatre, and also this is believe it or not, SMG's fifth top spot debut. There's also a look at the October box office in this article as well.

I've combined your two links into one thread to save space and they do go hand in hand.
I found it afterwards and I'm really not sure how to link in the same article with the yellow orange writing
Thankyou! Also how do you add the extra link?
I found the monetary comparisons quite interesting in the second article. It really brings to light just how well The Grudge did compared to the other movies being released this fall. Especially where some of them, after being out for weeks, haven't even cracked the $40 million dollar mark.
To put in a hyper link, have a look at this following example:

And we get Whedonesque.com
oh! thankyou

Slayerverse

Wow it works! Thanks Simon
It'll be good for Sarah and for the buffyverse, if Fox ever wanna chase up joss and Sarah for a big Buffy film and doubt Sarah's audience pull, the gurdge success won't hurt.
I agree SeanValen. I'm also wondering if those who aren't familiar with SMG, but like this film, will want to check out BtVS DVDs too.
Top 3 Movies for Oct.
1.Scary Movie 3 - 2003 - $48 Million
2.Shark Tales - 2004 - $47 Million
3.The Grudge - 2004 - $39 Million

The Ring was also released in Oct and got $15 Million it's first weekend.
I must admit those are some impressive numbers for SMG. I didn't realize 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and 'Scream 2' did that well in their opening week. I hope Sarah took a percentage of ticket sales option in making this movie. If so, she's laughing all the way to the bank. Maybe I should rethink my comment about Sarah doing a sequel of 'Grudge' on the link below.
Scary Movie 3, yes, that was genious.

Not.
From what I've read either people really love "The Grudge" of they don't. I thought Ben Affleck's movie might give "The Grudge" some trouble but it's a different genre and it's too early for a Christmas movie. We'll see how it stacks up against "The Saw" and "Ray." Solid opening weekend but a significant 2nd week drop in box office would not be good.
The Ben Affleck movie is being compared to Gigli - I doubt it will give anyone any of the other films any trouble.
Apocalypse, if you go to www.davesite.com/webstation/html or just put "html" in a search engine (since it usually comes up first), it tells you how to do links and all kinds of other stuff. It's called "HTML: An Interactive Tutorial for Beginners."

Premiere magazine predicted the total gross for The Grudge would be about $42 million. Oops.
Solid opening weekend but a significant 2nd week drop in box office would not be good.

I've heard that before, but I don't really understand it. If a movie costs $10M to make and brings in $40M, I would consider that a success regardless of whether the $40M comes in one weekend or in two.

I'm not saying it's wrong, just that I don't get it.
I`m very happy for Sarah! :D
I can`t wait to see the movie here in Spain ¬¬
It apparently had a strong monday with a $2,750,000 gross so hopefully that means it has staying power
EW.com has another interesting stat. Apparently The Grudge is "the third-best debut for a film with a woman in the starring role, behind only Lara Croft: Tomb Raider ($47.7 million) and Charlie's Angels ($40.1 million)."

Yeaht they're right, chceck out this list

http://boxofficemojo.com/genres/chart/?id=actionheroine.htm

Even though The Grudge isn't listed with these other films. Look at their opening weekend cash, the only 2 movies to make more on opening weekend are Lara Croft and Charlie's Angels. I'm surprised Terminator 2 Judgement Day didn't make more money on its opening weekend.(even though it has the highest lifetime gross on the list)
Thanks for the list eddy. My goodness that is a pityfully short list of action movies starring females. With a four day 41 million dollar gross, The Grudge is already in 16th place.
