SMG slated by nasty UK tabloid for whingeing. The Sun picks on SMG for not liking photo shoots in front of crowds. Scroll to the bottom of the page for some 'high quality' (cough) journalism, or read below.

SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR posed for a photoshoot in public in New York and was so shy in front of a crowd of onlookers that she cried.

The Buffy beauty said: “The shoot was on the street and I was in tears. Crowds were looking at me.”

Okay, this entire feature, not just the thing about Sarah, is a total waste of space and the reason that i would never waste my money by buying The Sun. Typical nasty journalism by somebody who jealously looks for ways to pick on those who are far more famous and popular than she will ever be.

Just a small point but this doesn't mention exactly when this incident occured for Sarah, why she was actually crying or what else was happening in her life at the time.

Bah!
Being that this is an example of British tabloid journalism, and appears in The Sun, a 'newspaper' so utterly disreputable I cannot even begin think of words suitable to describe it, there is every likelihood that the entire thing is a complete fabrication. Two words come to mind. Who cares?
The Sun is the worst newspaper in the history of English journalism. Which is some achievement

Being a Liverpool supporter i've been boycotting it for 15 years. And articles like that just increase my dislike.
I think we'll have no more bite sized gossipy items about Sarah for a while. Remember it's quality not quantity at Whedonesque.
This just in: The Sun reports that Hannigan sits down when she pees. Exclusive photos! *rolls eyes*
Ok I really didn't beleive that but now that I know it was in that Elle article I just feel sorry for Sarah. I really wouldn't be able to handle people starring at me 24/7.

This is a mis-quote taken out of context from her interview with Elle Girl magazine; the cover photo was shot out on the street in New York.

ELLEgirl: Are you ever intimidated?
SMG: We did a shoot on the street today, and I was in tears. Like, crowds of people looking at you?
The whole Elle article is over at Buffy.nu - but I know we can't link over there. The rest of the interview is OK. Nothing new or exciting though.
That doesn't make a lick of sense...
Ok, first of all, I cant stand people who misspell the word "whining". I automatically pronounce "WHINGEING" as "winging". Hate it. Pet peave. Ok, breathe.

And I'm with Simon. I'm tired of tabloid gossip.
"Ok, first of all, I cant stand people who misspell the word "whining". I automatically pronounce "WHINGEING" as "winging"."

I thought they meant some different british slang word or something. So they really do mean 'whining'?? Good grief, I know it's just a stupid tabloid, but still.....learn to spell.

And yeah if we're gonna keep track of the tabloids this site is going downhill a bit.
Not wanting to stick up for a tabloid journalist here but we do actually say whingeing here in the UK electricspacegirl.

It's pronounced "winjing" but it basically means the same thing as whining.
Oh, my bad. I didn't know. I thought it was netspeak or something. Like "looser" instead of loser.

Nope, if it had been a case of poor spelling i would have been the first to call a Sun journalist on it, trust me! ;)
"Sun journalist"

Isn't that a contradiction in terms
The British slang for whining can be spelt whingeing or whinging. And quite frankly, it sounds cooler than whining. And though the Sun article is pretty piss poor, it's about what you could expect from an E! Online article or any US tabloid column.
FYI for our American cousins, The Sun is a Murdoch paper. In fact, it's probably the paper that built the whole empire! It was the first big, profitable, paper Rupert bought outside of his corner of Australia and was the foundation of his mega empire, so without The Sun there would have been no Fox and , maybe, no Buffy....
Sorry zz9, i refuse to accept that The Sun has had any responsibility for creating my favourite television series ever.

That publication does not deserve that kind of credit! :)
SP, your name would suggest that you should be aware that evil is behind everything....
Well there is evil and then there is tabloid journalism.

Wolfram and Hart were never that evil even on their best days!
OMG!!!

I have just thought of something! You know the odd, never explained, fact that everyone at W+H has the initials 'LM'?

Guess what Rupert Murdoch's son, and presumptive heir, is called?

Lachlan Murdoch......

Even his daughter, and possible heir, could be called Liz!
zz9, that's an interesting theory, except that, well, there's Holland Manners and Gavin Park. Three out of five, but, not 100%. Hmm. I almost wish they *did* have the same initials. Not sure what it'd mean though.

The Sun? Yeah, that's the most trustworthy news source on the face of earth. It's a real shame that this paper sells very well.
The Sun. It`s like: blah, blah, blah blah...

I always wondered about the reason for so many lawyers on Angel being L.M. That's an interesting theory.
Even as I read this article, I can't help but laugh - the random Whedonesque quote is: "No wonder you like this stuff. It's like reading The Sun." Ha!
