Someone's Living in Buffy's house?!!!?? "Ask Ausiello" column on TV Guide online has questions regarding Buffy, SMG as WW and DB! One question says Buffy's house is being used on the OC.

If anyone who watches the OC can confirm if this is true or not that would be great!

As I said in an earlier thread, I used to want to live in Buffy's house but now my fantasy house is Serenity!

Also of whedonesque interest, the column features an amusing little exchange with a reader named "Anya."

I've never wanted to live in Buffy's house, although it is rather nice, but my wife did go to Buffy's school. They weren't, however, classmates.
Ha ha! That's funny - I skimmed the questions and because I don't watch that show I missed that interaction! Thanks for pointing it out!
Yes, Buffy's house is being used on the O.C. I don't watch it, but I have Buffy-fan friends who do. Apparently there's a new character Lindsey or somesuch who lives there. (I told you I don't watch the show.)

I have actually been to see "Buffy's house." It's much smaller in real life than it looked like on the show. Really makes you wonder how they crammed all those Potentials in.
That is wrong on so many levels...

My wife and I have on occasions wanted to live in Buffy's house...or Angel's gothic digs in Sunnydale (love the fireplace)...or Gile's very charming abode...but what we really want is the Hyperion.
Chris in Virginia - Have you by any chance played the XBox Buffy game (the first one)? They have a nice version of Angel's place in Sunnydale. I actually loved all the places that Angel lived in except the last place. And I adored Giles apartment but that would've been too small for a family of four!
Yeah, we've taken a drive past Buffy's house(oddly enough, it's just a few blocks from Buffy's school) and I also thought it was smaller than it seemed on tv. But then again, they can do amazing things with lenses. They make her street look huge, when it's actually rather small.

But Buffy's house being in The OC isn't enough to get me to watch it. I'll take folks word for it!
Don't play video games, Flan...yeah, Giles' apartment is probably the closest to what we would want...
Either the Hyperion or Giles' place for me. I really hoped that Fox would sell the art deco wall lights from Giles' place. They never did. sigh
I was more shocked by the news that Dead Like Me's been cancelled.
Never saw an episode of Dead Like Me, nor knew many people who did, so it doesn't come as that much of a shock to me. If it does somehow gets saved though, I'll give it a shot.

It's really weird that the O.C. is using the Buffy house.. I guess because if there are any O.C. fans who previously watched Buffy, they're always going to associate the house with Buffy. "Lindsey sleeps in Dawn's room!" Or something.
Yep they're using Buffy's house for Lindsay.... They changed the colors schemes a bit, but it's till Buffy's house.
Would I be killed if I said that I didn't recognized it at the first glace only a few minutes later, I realized. God that's Buffy home, that was supposed to have gone down with the hellmouth, hahahaha.

Well at least there's a ME writer in OC's writing staff, personally never thought of Drew Z. Greenberg as the best Buffy writer, but loved his Firefly episode.
I recognized Buffy's house immediately on The OC. They've changed the landscaping a bit, but it looks like the same house. I believe the front door is different; it has these glass panels in it that I don't remember from Buffy, but I could be wrong. Like Buffy said, they replaced every stick of furniture in that house; I might just be rusty on what the door looked like in later seasons.
I believe TV folks pay good money for houses so it's understandable that they rent it out. And with The O.C. there's no chance of Torrence being blown up like the nice Buffy FX people did....

On a visit to LA I admit I drove past the house, as well as the school. I soooo need to get me a life!
I watch The OC. And I've seen Lindsay's house - she's the new girl that Ryan likes, right? Well, the house has similar characteristics, but when you look at the overall shots, the house is totally different. The porch only covers half of the front of the house, etc. I don't think TV Guide is right.
I feel really stupid asking this, but where in LA are these things?
Sunnydale High is Torrance High, at 2200 West Carson Street, Torrance. Torrance itself is sorta south and west of downtown L.A.
as shown here
. (OK, not actually shown there - it didn't link to the particular magnification on Mapquest that I wanted, but you can do that yourself . . .) And as many or all know, Torrance HS was also the setting for Beverley Hills 90210, and for at least one feature film, the name of which escapes me.

Others have said above that Buffy's house is close by, although I've never seen it myself.
You can go here to find these and other tv locations in and around LA.
Buffy's house is close by the high school. As I recall, it's about two blocks further east on Carson St, on one of the residential streets to the south. I have the address somewhere.

I should figure out how to post to the Flickr group and toss my photos in there. I went to LA over summer and did the total nerd thing: toured LA for shooting sites. I have pictures of Torrance High, Buffy's house, Sony Pictures Plaza (which was the first W&H building), the Los Altos, and the church the vampires took over in "Who Are You?" (which we really went to because it was a Charmed location; the Buffy location-ness of it was kind of incidental).

We tried to get up to the Ennis-Brown House, but MapQuest led us astray, and the Griffith Park observatory, but it was closed. Have to save those for a return trip.
janeway216, first you need to sign up for flickr. Then you upload your photos to your own account. Then you use the organiser to send the photos to the group pool (once you've joined the group), or you send them from the menu on the left hand side of your individual picture pages.
"and for at least one feature film, the name of which escapes me."

You may be thiking of "She's All That" which starred Freddie Prinze Jr and has an uncredited appearance by SMG
I was channel surfing and landed on O.C. and stopped because, "hey, it's Buffy's house!" But then I thought, maybe I just see Buffy everywhere. Glad to know I'm not crazy.
Unless they did some major renovation, it's not the same place: Buffy's house and Lindsay's house.
Is it not possible they are using a different exterior shot?
Thanks for the pic Faith. I'm gonna have to agree!
Thanks for the pictures Faith. By those, it definitely doesn't look like the same exterior but like Herb suggested they could be using a different exterior but the same interior set. I haven't seen the show so I have no idea. The TV Guide said it was the same but then he said he had to have that confirmed so he could be wrong.
Oh my god, Mischa Barton actually has a fan club??? Oh, wait, that wasn't the point...I agree that it still could be the same set, just different exteriors.
Maybe the Buffy people sold the set to the OC people? The Buffy sets were dismantled and The Insider is shooting in the building so no way could The OC people be simply using the old set as it was. It's not like the Paramount sets which are more or less permanant.

And remember that if the set was based on a real house then there are very few houses that are unique in their layout. When I bought my house I looked at another house several miles away that was clearly built from exactly the same plans. So it could simply be a coincidence, many houses have a front door opening onto a hallway with stairs, living room to one side, dining room to the other and so on. Now if they show the basement and there's shackels on the wall....

lmao electricspacegirl
Wasn't there a drive way not that far away to the right where Joyce pulled in in the 2nd to last episode in season 2? Also wasnt the tree that Spike used to stalk Buffy at right next to the side walk? The pic of Buffy's house seems to have a very large front yard. I wonder if many of those sceens were shot on a set not actually in the front of this house.
During the first few scenes outside of Lindsay's house, all I could think was "Hey! Buffy's house!" (The second thing I thought was, "Heh, 'freudian slippers'...I guess I do kinda like the girl," in case you were wondering) Glad to see I'm not the only one.

The pictures seem to disprove the fact, but...if they're really that dissimilar, I'm not sure why I would have even thought that they could be the same place in the first...place.
Rouge Slayer - thanks for the link to TV locations. I never knew it was so ewasy to find all those locations. Now I want to go see them in person. I hope I can work a trip to LA in my future.
Besides a shot of Lindsay's bedroom, this is the best view of the interior that we've seen so far that I can remember. Not that I, you know, watch it, or have Peter Gallagher as my screensaver.
I've actually lived relatively near Buffy's house all my life, but never knew it was there. The high school too.
i also visited all the buffy and angel locations when i went 2 la... i took hours of video of torrance high, los altos apartments, and tons more.... this is the website where i got my info from on locations...

its crazy when u see it in person, u feel like your in sunnydale... its unreal, especially since sunnydale is in a crater rite now...
That's so cool that Angel lived in a Frank Lloyd Wright house—not that we ever saw it from enough distance to recognize it.
Anybody who is in a position to go; do it. It's really fun and almost kind of weird to really stand in front of Buffy's house or school.

It's like part of your brain doesn't compute, hehe. You almost expect some familiar face to walk out of a door if you know what I mean.

And hiding in her attic with a pair of handcuffs and a roll of duct tape is... wait, I've said too much. Nevermind.
If anyone's interested there was a response from "Anya" in this column :
