Christian Kane to star in Spielberg mini series. The TNT drama titled "Into The West" is set to air sometime during the summer of 2005.

Does anyone if Alan Tudyk did sign for this as well? I did read that he was in talks for it. IMDB has him listed for it, but they have been known to get things wrong.

I haven't heard much about this but I am glad CK is getting more work. I read somewhere that Spielberg was a fan of Angel and watched it, that's how he knew of Julie Benz and cast her for Taken (I believe Julie Benz told this story).

There seems to be a deep mutual respect between Spielberg (who is casting Angel actors) and Joss (who in the recently posted CHUD interview stated how all Spielberg's work blows him away). Now a collaboration between Whedon and Spielberg, that would be something to see!
Whedon and Spielberg??? It could be great.
Simon, I followed this issue and, after the one mention in July, Alan's name disappeared from the cast list in every story in THR and futoncritic. In fact, a futoncritic story here lists what looks like three actors for the three lead roles, Alan's name having gone now. This is the last item on Into the West until now.

It's also interesting that there's very little info on the series at TNT (a months-old PR release) and producer DreamWorks (which is very stingy with info overall).

Does anyone know if the mini-series is going to be based on the Orson Scott Card novel of the same name? It's doubtful, but I thought I would ask.
Here's some more info from futon critic regarding tca preview panel.

"Into the West – Debuts Summer 2005. An epic 12-hour original limited series produced by TNT in association with DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg, Into the West follows two multi-generational families — one a Virginia pioneer family and the other Lakota Native American — each telling the dramatic stories of the development of the West from their distinct points of view. Wow, this sounds interesting. Thanks for the info, RavenU.
It's great to hear everyone is getting work after Angel. I've heard of almost all the actors doing something or other except AH & AD. Does anyone know what they are up to? Also, it seems out of all the actors on Agel DB and CK are getting the most work.
Thanks for that Drifter, looks like we won't be seeing Alan and Christian on screen together. Would have been nice though.
Just wanted to point out that guest-director Sean Astin and guest-star Tyler Christopher (both of Angel) are involved also.

First post, please be gentle!
At the 2004 comic-con which had Joss and the cast of Serenity Alan said that he was in this Mini-Series. Is it possible that he was replaced?
