Zoic from Buffy to Battlestar. The studio that did the special effects for all the verses, now moves on to Galactica. "Since its inception, it has created effects and digital animation for numerous television shows such as "Buffy," "Angel," and "Firefly" for which it won the 2003 Emmy for Visual Effects."

The new BG is actually pretty watchable. Like with Babylon 5, from an SF point of view, you kind of wonder sometimes why outer space is so much like the US, but as a depiction of war and politics, it works, from time to time.
The special effects in the new series are very good, but there is a tendency to reuse the effects over and over again. I noticed several shots in the first few episodes that were identical to ones from the mini-series. Anyway, US posters are in for a real treat when the series airs tomorrow.
I'm losing interest in BG. It's fantastic, a real quality show, but I'm having trouble finding any likeable (or on a shallow note, attractive) characters. The way I watch it (downloads) doesn't help my short attention span much either.
Dejavu. I recall similar complaints along the same timeline of the original series. Wonderful at first, but the same SF's and shallow plot lines grew old in a hurry. Remember the disco' light sticks....oh, boy. Haven't yet seen the new series, just keeping pace with what is said on the 'net. Really looking forward in watching the new series, just hope history isn't repeating itself.
I caught the miniseries on NBC and thought it was pretty good. I hear the series is even better so I'll be checking it out when the series starts up. I guess I'll be spending Friday nights watching the Sci-fi channel seeing that BG is airing along with the two Stargate shows.
I hope they show it on a channel that I can receive here in Holland soon, I think I should watch BG while I'm away from the computer. (Same goes for stuff like Carnivale, you need your head to watch it, you can't be multi-tasking.)
BG will alwys be tainted for me after that f@#king dancing robot dog that seemed to feature regularly in the original. It will take a great deal of courage on my part to overcome that taint!
I'm surprised no one's mentioned that the Serenity made a cameo appearance at the beginning of the miniseries...
tmhsiao, that's a great find! And how sneaky of them! Heeee! I love this fanboy stuff...
I think that may have been mentioned on Whedonesque before a long time ago. Someone did mention it on the Flicker-Whedonesque discussion about BG. I had forgotten all about it so didn't remember to look. Thanks for the picture tmhsiao - at least I got to see a shot of it.
The mini-series was repeated on Sci-Fi last night, and I watched the first bit of it soley to see the Serenity cameo I'd heard so much about. That'll be all I'll see of BG - unless Richard Hatch actually makes an appearance!

Weeeellllllll.

It was mentioned here
Certainly BG's first season is the best one I've seen since Firefly, and its certainly the best sci-fi since firefly. Iloved Farscape, but its refreshing to have a show which approaches 'hard science fiction' which neither Farscape of FF did.

In many ways, BSG (revisted) seems to be more a rethinking of Voyager than of the original BSG. Which makes sense, as Ronald D. Moore quit Voyager in disgust because he felt it didn't address teh issues of being 'away from home' adequately enough.

Oh yeah, Zoic's effects work is pretty nice.

Certainly not the greatest thing on TV, but very enoyable. It ain't Joss, but that's fine. It does share qualities with Joss' work, but tends to put a bigger emphasis on the big picture rather than artifical families.
Caroline: "you need your head to watch it, you can't be multi-tasking."

Funny...I lent a colleague Season 1 of Buffy...she asked if she could be folding clothes or ironing or tidying up while "watching"...she was rather taken aback when I said, "Just sit down and give the show your absolute undivided attention, or there's no point in your even having these."

We'll see if she gets it or not...
