Press blurb for Nick Brendon's new movie "Unholy". Much well deserved praise for Nick from the movie's production company.

The film might not be quite as amazing as is being suggested here, but I am rather looking forward to seeing it. I think it's great news that Nick Brendon is working again. He was constantly excellent across all seven seasons of BtVS, comes across as a genuinely nice and sincere person, and deserves every success with his career in the future.
This sounds really good to me and I haven't seen NB in anything other than BtVS so I'd be curious to see him as someone else.
I saw him in Psycho Beach Party. It really wasn't that good. I'm very excited to see this movie though. It's been a while since he's done something. I think the last thing was where he played a gay guy in a made for TV Movie last year.
Sadly, I caught a bit of Nick last weekend in Pinata...about a pinata that goes crazy....
And I saw him as the gay cousin in that tv movie. I can't say I'm impressed with his outside-Buffy work. I'm not sure he has much range, but then again, he hasn't had any good material.
Even the greatest actors are dragged down by bad material. I've not seen Nick Brendon in anything other than BtVS, where the brilliance of the writing was always going to make the actors look good, but I will remain optimistic. It doesn't hurt that this new film also stars Adrienne Barbeau. 'The Fog' is probably my all-time favourite horror film.

Atta boy Nick!!! Good luck!
I caught some of the TV movie, as well. It would certainly be difficult to judge NB's abilities by that lame piece. I don't think anyone could have done well with the part. So I'm happy that he's got work, and I hope this turns out to be successful for him.
I loved "The Fog" as well. I actually think it's pretty interesting that he's being teamed up with "Adrienne Bimbo, as we used to call her! While I doubt she's ever been seen as a top-shelf actress she has been in tons movies over the years. I sort of picture NB doing the same thing in the long run and ultimately being considered the same calibre as her.

I'm looking forward to the movie, I love horror movies. I do wonder what sort of release it will get, the article does mention it's the company's first "feature," though I'm not sure what that really means.
Nice to see Nicholas working again.
Good luck to the movie.
I rather liked Psycho Beach Party, in its very camp way. As to Pinata: Survival Island, I'm pretty sure not even Johnny Depp could have redeemed that film. Here's hoping the film does well.

IMDB doesn't have anything up on it yet. Nothing on the director, either, although there's some close matches. The writer, Sam Freedman, is about 25, was a producer on Zombie Honeymoon and an editor intern on Gangs of New York. Looks like the studio's other executive producer was an actor in The Petting Zoo and has a lot of improv under his belt. I usually gauge a film by the actors, writers, and directors. So far, the big selling point here is Nick.
I like Psycho Beach Party. It's good if you appreciate camp. Pinata: Survival Island on the other hand is one for the so bad its almost good category.

Check this out review if you have time to kill.

I don't know about this one. With a new production company there's no filmography to go by so we'll see. Too bad I don't live in New York anymore.

I second that. Pinata is so bad, it really is entertaining. I think the biggest achievement of Nick in that one is being able to play it straight without showing on his face how aware he is of just how awful his lines are. And if you're used to Joss and the other Buffy writers, the contrast with this 'script' (and I use the term loosely) must've been painful.

Yeah, so awful I actually recommend it. If they'd played it more tongue-in-cheeck it could've made for one hell of a parody on monster movies, but no....they chose to play it completely straight and serious. Too funny.

BTW I just saw on that link that the tag line for Pinata was: "A weekend to dismember"......That may be my all-time favorite horribly awful tagline! Who came up with that one!?

A weekend to dismember. Haha. EdDantes, you actually made me want to rent Pinata.
If Nick is someone you get pleasure looking at, I can recommend the Pinata movie. Because, oh my!

If only Netflix would get the Pyscho Beach Party movie.
Admittedly, I've been having trouble with supporting Buffy alumni post Buffy. I avoided the American Pie series of movies on principle, though I adore Hannigan. The first Scooby Doo movie was brainless eye candy, so I refuse to watch the second one. The Grudge seemed kinda interesting but not enough to get me in the theater. I did see Emma Caulfield in Darkness Falls but I wish I hadn't. I watched a couple episodes of Tru Calling but was ultimately bored and disappointed. Though I was glad to see Carpenter get a guest spot on Charmed, it was after I'd already decided to give up on that series cuz it was so cheesy and stupid. I watched one last episode of Charmed just to see Carpenter, but even she couldn't save the terrible writing on that show.

So I'm glad to see Nick Brendon's getting work again. Adrienne Barbeau is also a woman whose work I've enjoyed in the past, but these two have one thing in common: outside of one or two projects that have put them on the map, they're apparently not great at choosing material which properly illuminates their talents. I'd have to actually read this script to know for sure, but a film focusing on some government conspiracy involving "Nazi witchcraft" does not instill a lot of hope in me.

I haven't even heard of "Psycho Beach Party" but the name alone makes me shrug. If I ever find it on Netflix perhaps I'll give it a looksee, but I say the same thing about The Grudge, and I'm in no hurry.

Our Scoobies are not batting a good average after leaving the Whedon bullpen, that's for sure.
Zandra, Nick is someone I definitely do enjoy looking at. I'm totally gonna netflix it like right now.
Hey isn't Adrienne Barbeau currently a regular on Carnivale? I love that show, and think she does magnificent work on it. So I am really looking forward to seeing her play Nick's on screen mother. I agree with ZachsMind though about both of them not picking the right material all the time...lets hope this isn't one of those times.
