Chance to vote for Spike and Buffy at TV GUIDE. This looks like the Valentine issue couples, with a chance to vote for the hottest kiss.

It's Buffy and Spike in the lead, with Rachel and Ross close behind, and everybody else is left in the dust!
This time our votes aren't split. No way the Farscape fans can beat us once they find out, and they should know about it, I just told them. Now it's a race to the finish. I sure hope we win.
Bad Spikebad...sssshhhhhhh... ha ha.
"What can I tell you baby? I've always been bad!"
Gosh darnit, will someone please remind TV Guide that there were romantic couples that had nothing to do with either Buffy or Spike on the show? :P

There were other couples??? I didn't notice. ;) (teasing) Seriously, Are you talking about Willow/Tara? I think that was a huge couple for the show. Whenonverse definitely had some of the most incredible couples, no doubt. I'm rather partial to Spike and Angel, too. (But that includes Spike, again)

-sigh- If only Spike and Faith would've hooked up. They would've made an awesome sexy couple.
50% Buffy/Spike 16% Ross/Rachel -- no longer close :)
Buffy and Spike with a clear majority of votes, not merely a plurality...tremendous!
BurkleFreak, exactly! I really wanted Spike and Faith to happen.
Let's just hope that it stays up there.

And yeah, I wish they would have put Willow/Tara up there. That was by far my favorite couple, followed closely by Buffy/Spike.
Sigh. I don't like Buffy/Spike. Their kissage was kinda gross. I wish Buffy/Angel was on there. But I guess I'll vote for Ross/Rachel

Mallory, if the Faith spin-off had happened, I think I heard that Joss had plans for Spike to be there too?

It probably definitely would have come to pass...

and it SOOOOOO would have rocked.
Ah, nostalgia -You are right, twiggy, the Whedonverse has produced some marvellous couples.Willow and Tara's relationship was beautiful and I'll always hold a soft spot for Spike and Buffy. thanks for the link !

Oh, I don't know. I think Trista and Ryan were the hottest kissers! LMAO. I can't believe they even got nominated. Seriously, I think (spoiler for Lost coming up) Also, Vaughn and Sydney's first kiss on ALias was very moving, and then there's Kate and Sawyer on Lost, and that was pretty hot.

According to the date next to the Buffy/Spike nomination, they are talking about the OMWF kiss, but I think the kiss in Smashed was much better.

But since this is apparently a contest between BtVS and all the other shows, I'll vote for the show, and not the kiss. I feel like playing dirty. Buffy deserves the recognition!

On a side note, I totally agree that Buffy and Faith would have been a hot couple. I wanted to see that! Faith was totally into Spike in season 7. And everyone knows Spike has a thing for slayers. Sigh. Oh, what could have been...

Gah! I know about the Faith spin-off thing *sigh*. If only...

EDIT: Boone = bleh

Shannon = cool

Shannon + Boone = a nauseaous Mallory

If Spike/Faith HAD happened do you think Mr Wood might have been a teeny bit upset....?
Buffy/Angel first kiss was so much better.
What about Faith/Zeitgeist -- woot! :) I would imagine that Wood/Faith would (wood?!) have run its course by the time we saw a Spike/Faith
I hate these popularity contests. I voted for Spike & Buffy out of solidarity for the 'cause' such as it is. I don't want Whedon's BtVS to be forgotten, but it's a shame it's being remembered in this case for the worst kiss in the history of the series. Buffy & Spike kissing was like a dog kissing a cat. It's cute and fluffy and a little creepy, but that's about it. Heat? I get more heat out of my toaster.

The Cordy/Xander first kiss in season two was much hotter, with them shouting at each other and then just going for it. Will & Tara were always hot, whether they were kissing or not. They'd just have to look at one another and you'd see sparks. Then there's season six when Spike put Anya down on the table - Ooh! Didn't Giles and Anya kiss that season too? And in season three when Cordy and Wesley kissed, and Wes kissed too wet for Cordy's tastes? Then there's when Buffy and Angelus were temporarily possessed by ghosts - that was pretty hot. And of course when Buffy lost her virginity to Angel. That was pretty hot too.

But the most heat ever in the entire series has to be when there was that frat party in season four, and Riley and Buffy just couldn't stop having sex because of all those creepy kid ghosts haunting the place. That was hot. Everybody else keeps wanting Buffy and Angel to end up together or Buffy and Spike. If Riley hadn't lacked the confidence to handle a woman of Buffy's capability, he would have been an ideal anchor. You know, the kinda guy a gal could come home to after she'd saved the world a few times before dinner.

I almost voted for Uhura and Kirk though. The first inter-racial kiss ever to be broadcast on American television. That wasn't only hot - that was an historic kiss! But that franchise is dead. We're trying to revive this one.
I did vote for Uhura and Kirk. Along with 1% of the other voters.
I have to say, OMWF was not my favorite BTVS kiss, Spuffy's Tabula Rasa was (and we've already discussed this in another thread, I think) Spike and Buffy (with all that passion, chemistry and controversy) are absolutely my favorite couple of all time. I thought it was fitting in CHOSEN that when they linked fingers, their hands caught fire. I love them so much.

BTW, this was not the Spuffy first kiss. Their first kiss actually was quite the tearjerker, in INTERVENTION when Spike was beat up by Glory.

I felt the best kiss was L and L(since I had been waiting 4 long seasons) on Gilmore girls but I had to vote for my Buffy and Spike..even though I was only hoping for that for about 2 seasons.
Actually, wasn't the first kiss in Something Blue in s4, when Willow's random wishes came true? It wasn't by choice, given, but wasn't that the first lip-lock between the two (when they were going to get married)?
Actually, Buffy and Spike's first kiss was even before that, in "Something Blue". But they were under a spell and apparently disgusted by it later. "I still have Buffy taste in my mouth." But I suspect he kind of liked it...

ETA: Palehorse beat me to it.

I feel traiterous - I voted for John and Aeryn! But I love the Buffyverse more - I just think the John and Aeryn love story is the best I've seen on tv!

I was surprised there was no Buffy and Angel but I'm glad there was only one Buffy choice because I hate to see the votes split amongst the two ships.

Now, I wasn't a huge Buffy and Riley fan (I've grown to enjoy Riley's character since then) but that was a great kiss in Hush when they see each other! Very romantic. And I loved where Buffy and Spike were heading when season 7 ended but none of the kisses were really that romantic to me between them. I would've been wonderful to have finally got a truly loving and romantic kiss from them in Chosen just before Spike "died".
Strictly speaking, this is for best kiss not best couple. If it were for best couple, I'd be a bit torn between Luke/Lorelai or Spike/Buffy. But since it's kiss...really, Spike/Buffy have much hotter kisses! Even though, as has already been said, this wasn't their hottest kiss by far...

God, I was waiting for a kiss all of season 7!! Cruel, cruel Joss...
That's right..DUH!! SOMETHING BLUE, They were great in that, but I don't think of it that way cause they were under a magic spell. Still, I think it definitely stirred the pot, since both had memories of it.
Did you ever notice that the Buffy/Angel ship to us is like the safe conservative republican party, and the Buffy/Spike ship is the imoral liberal democratic party. Just a thought.
Well, it's at 58% now.
I hope this gets published in the magazine.
Nice for the networks to see that.

Or ummm, Wolfram & Hart as we call them around here.

No, I've never noticed that, and I certainly don't agree with the analogy. Probably wise to refrain from saying any more on that subject . . .
The Wb is the Wolfram, and Fox is the Hart.
Sorry. It's just that I've seen so much bickering between the two ships that it's starting to sound like a presidential debate everytime the two start arguing with eachother.
Rogue Slayer, I did realize it was for best kiss and should've stated that I thought the John and Aeryn kisses were super hot - but I got carried away with what a great couple they are!
Buffy/Spike are my all-time favorite fictional couple and I love the kiss from OOWF but my favorite Spuffy smoochage is from Smashed and Dead Things.

I love season 4 and always liked Riley (until As You Were)and I found the B/R relationship sweet and romantic. But not hot, sexy or erotic.

Oh, I wasn't directing that comment at you, just a general clarification statement since the description of this link says you can vote for your favorite couple.

And I agree with you that there weren't really any romantic Spuffy kisses. Hot and passionate, to be sure, but I couldn't really call them romantic.
Rogue, you are right and I fixed that link. They are still my favorite couple.
I was surprised there was no Buffy and Angel but I'm glad there was only one Buffy choice because I hate to see the votes split amongst the two ships.

Isn't this top 20 the result of a previous poll that did have Buffy and Angel ... or am I confusing it with a different poll? I know TV Guide has had polls in the past with both B/S and B/A represented. I'm assuming the B/S kiss was chosen for a reason. Anyway, as a Spike fan, I'm happy to see a pairing that includes him on the poll.
SpikeBad, I'm a Bangel. Please, never, never, never compare me and my love of Buffy and Angel to the conservative Republican party. I agree the fights are heated, just not happy with the assigning of roles. (Not being cranky, by the way, just saying... :=) )

It makes me sad to see the Whedonverse reduced to poll for best kiss in TV guide.

Wait! Comics! Comics are a-coming!
Burklefreak, you are so right! Spike/Faith would have been amazing. mmmmm, the sex would be great.

I have to say my favorite Buffyverse kiss is from I Will Remember You. I believe they had 3 kisses: the one on the pier, the one in the kitchen, and the one saying good bye as the clock ticked down. The one in the kitchen was my favorite, it was totally hot. My second favorite Buffyverse kiss was Smashed. Probably more hot, but the love just wasn't there. I'm a romantic, what can I say. But I'm NOT a conservative! SpikeBad, that was bad, bad, bad! But I accept your apology.
Oh, Spike and Faith ... now that would have been something to see. If that simple basement discussion Buffy walked in on between them -- over cigarettes, no less -- was any indication of the chemistry that could have been, just imagine them in full-on horndog mode. Whoo-eee!

I think there were better Buffy/Spike kisses than this one, but I voted for it anyway; Tara/Willow would have gotten my vote if they'd been represented. And although I'm not a B/A'er per se, I'd still put their kisses in IOHEFY, B:2 or IWRY at the top of any Whedonverse list (and yes, Harmalicious, the kitchen kiss -- lucky table!).

Kirk/Uhura appeals to my old school Trekkie-ness, but the fact they were forced together by psychic coercion, sparkage notwithstanding, sort of quenches the hotness factor for me.

I'd sure like to see what Mal and Inara could do, one of these days. ;)
Forever devoted Spuffy/hardcore Republican here...so bad SpikeBad, very bad. Though I am curious what the statistic is on that.

Wiseblood, you said it--Mal/Inara...I smell movie action.

Oh, and on a total side note, I've been getting good buzz from my friends recently about Farscape. But what to my utter surprise when on Amazon I see that a dvd box set cost $120! Isn't that a little pricey? Of course, I only have Buffy season dvds to compare it to and I've always complained about having to shell out $45 each for those. Yeah, I'm stingy.
I voted for the B/S kiss. riaspark, the season sets i've noticed to be the most pricey are x-files, star trek, syndicated shows(hercules, xena, babylon 5), farscape and other cable shows, and every single HBO show. So maybe they just figure they can get that much out of them cause they're either really devoted(more devoted than us? i dunno) or they already pay a big fee to see it in the first place. I buy all of my DVDs used unless its a buffy/angel set.
Wow, B/S kiss in the lead by a country mile. Must be a lot of Buffyverse fans who read TV Guide on-line. Every time there's a poll that includes our favorite Slayer, Buffy usually takes first place by a wide margin. BtVS was voted best TV show of all time a few years ago.
Just so you all know, I'm an independent who never wins any sort of election so go Buffy and Riley.
:) Nice followup Spikebad.
I bought my Farscape DVDs from Ebay and got them for about 60-70 bucks each set. If that's still too pricey, a lot of Whedonesquers have strongly recommended Netflix as an option to actually buying them.
Looks like the Alias fans just found out seeing how they're in second now. However, they're still way behind.
I watch Alias and I think they are the most boring couple!
Madhatter: "BtVS was voted best TV show of all time a few years ago."

The voting was a de jure validation of what all (well, most) of us her knew in our hearts as a de facto reality!

But I am distressed...45% right now...only a 30 percentatge point lead!
Must agree with Firefly Flanatic. I like 'Alias' and have the current available DVDs, but I can't recall a single sizzling kiss scene between Sydney and Vaughn. Guess I'll check out the episode that aired on January 26, 2003 to compare for myself.

Buffy and Spike still leaving the competion in the dust with a 29% lead.
Just went back to look at the results and the pop-up was AtS Season 5 - damn it looked good! Got to go back now - I got so excited that I forgot to look at the progress score!

ETA: back again - 44% Buffy/Spike to 16% Sydney/Vaughn.

[ edited by catalyst2 on 2005-02-10 09:00 ]
If anyone is curious, the 'Alias' show in question is named 'Phase One' which is episode 13 of season two.
I do actually think the Syd/Vaughn kiss in Phase One (my favourite epsiode of Alias btw) is hotter than the Buffy/Spike OMWF kiss but I voted for that to help keep the 'verse winning :)
