(SPOILER) More praise for AXM (compared to Uncanny X-Men). Contains spoilers for the latest Uncanny X-Men and AXM if anyone hasn't read the 1st 6 issues yet.

"The best X-Book on the shelves at the moment is Whedon's Astonishing X-Men and itís a perfect example of how to bring a character back to life, not only is it a beautiful, touching affair, but its also just realistic enough to be credible."

EDIT for poor grammar

And Joss is only going to do 12 AXM issues? - damn, most of the other X-men stables seem to pale in comparison in most reviews. The comment in there "Sadly the only reason I care to pick up this title anymore is because I love the characters, I love everything there is about the X-Men" or some variation of it, seems to catch a common theme. And the equally common "itís a perfect example of how to bring a character back to life, not only is it a beautiful, touching affair, but its also just realistic enough to be credible" also seems the common perception of just how Joss'work is different form the others.

STORYTELLING is the forgotten theme - gimmicks, variant covers, revisioning(s) can distract from the lack of that for a while but, in the end, it has got be in there.

I confess that I don't read the other X-men stuff regularly to keep with anything any more. I am just waiting for my AXM 'Gifted" TPB to arrive.
