Happy Birthday Mercedes McNab! The Actress who plays Harmony on both Buffy and Angel turns 25 today!

Hope she has a very happy birthday!

Many happy returns!
Oops, I thought she was older.
She doesn´t look much older than she really is, but in Tv series... you never know :p

Happy birthday!!!

Happy Happy Happy Birthday Miss McNab. I found your portrayal of Harmony always hilarious. I was very very very pleased to see Joss gave you a regular credit for the final episodes of Angel.
My wife and I watched the last 5 episodes of Season 5 last night...I paused during the credits and said, "Damn, she's an amazingly gorgeous woman..." My wife indulgently smiled and agreed.

Happy birthday, Mercedes!
She is very beautiful and a very good actress, and I thank her for all of her years in the Buffyverse (5 or 6 seasons in total?).
Seven years, six seasons, I believe: seasons two, three, four, and five on Buffy, and seasons two and five of Angel.
Hapy birthday to Mercdes! I just saw Adams Family Values again, she has a great nack for playing snotty girls but I hope she gets to play more diversity in the future.

In off topic news, X-Men 3 now has a director if AICN is to be believed. Lets hope that squashes anymore Joss/X3 rumors from being started.
Mercedes was also in an episode of season one of buffy - so that makes appearances in seven seasons in total

I'm still waiting to hear about her film project, she had to pull out of a convention due to landing a role - I wonder if it is big or not, or mainstream or independent - guess we'll have to wait and see
In other off topic news, did anyone see the Robot Chicken sketch about ''Buffy Season 8"?
I recorded Robot Chicken but haven't watched it yet. Its being re-run on adult swim right now, when did they show the Buffy sketch?
it's near the end....it starts off nothing like a sketch referencing Buffy at all. In fact, it starts out with Chucky, yes the serial killer doll.
Adams Family Values was on TV here a couple of days ago and she was great in that, and in the first movie where she played a Girl Scout selling cookies. Happy birthday Mercedes.
It's hard to believe she was in the first Fantastic Four movie, I must try and find a copy of it and see how bad the film actually is.
I did see the Roger Corman attempt at Fantastic Four and don't recall seeing McNab in it. Granted, the video quality of my copy was pretty bad. That actually kinda helped the film a bit in a strange way.

May the lovely Mercedes have many more birthdays to come. =)
I always found it strange that Mercedes was 10 years younger than Charisma. Guess that's the magic of television (and Ms Carpenter's youthful good looks :) )

Happy birthday Mercedes :)
Mercedes was Sue Storm/Richards wasn't she?

Happy birthday, Miss McNab, hope it's been a good one!
Mercedes played Young Sue Storm in a flashback.
Not a flashback, exactly, eddy...she played Sue as a little girl while Reed Richards was a college student boarding in the Storm's house...she's only in the movie for about 2 minutes, but it is unmistakeably Mercedes...she has a schoolgirl crush on Reed, telling little brother Johnny, "He's dreamy!" It's not at all a good movie...
As far as I know that movie was made just so the studio could keep the rights, and was never intended to be released. So I don't think they cared if it was good or not. I don't think the cast knew this at the time though.
Yeah...the cast & crew all thought they were making a legitimate movie. The FF movie is terrible...BUT it falls squarely into "so bad, it's good" territory. It has its own special kind of hilarity and is definitely worth watching (once is probably enough, though I watched it again a couple of years ago when I realized that MM was in it). See it with friends--you're in for a treat.

yes she was in 1x11 - invisible girl/out of mind out of sight, Mercedes was also in the Buffy pilot presentation (filmed in April 1996), which I guess technically makes her the only actor to be involved in the span of the entire buffyverse (though obviously there is a two year gap).

Mercedes appeared in The Harvest as well, she was in the computer class chatting with Cordelia about going to the Bronze later that night. I'm not entirely sure that she was ever actually named as Harmony in that episode but clearly it was the same character.
She was in the pilot too. She must have been 16/17 when they started the show.
Happy birthday Mercedes!

One thing that bugged me about Angel is that Cordelia was only meant to be the same age as Buffy and the rest of the Scooby Gang, but it seems when Angel developed and by the third season they seemed to have made Cordelia into an older character, seeming in appearance and attitude to be more 30-something like Wesley or Angel (Angel does look like a 30 year old, even if he is older) when she was supposed to be only 21.

She just seemed a lot older than Buffy and Willow, and even older than Fred (who I think is supposed to be older than Cordelia as she was at university when she was sent to Pylea, which means she would be at least 23-25 during season three). No offence to Charisma, who looks fantastic and was convincing as a high school student, but it just seems strange that the writers suddenly made the character a lot older. Although maybe it was due to the rest of the cast being a little more mature than the Buffy cast?
Razor, Whenever I think about the progression of Cordelia's character on Angel, I'm reminded of the scene in BtVS Anne, when the "bad guy" says something to Buffy along the lines of "This place makes you get old fast."

I have no doubt that the writers realized that Cordy needed to be a bit more mature and grown up on Angel, given the particular cast of characters on the show. But, her arc was entirely believeable to me (except towards the end). The girl that complained about various summer vacation spots for rather spoiled, obnoxious reasons in high school, goes to LA broke and has to learn to take care of herself. She finds out it can be pretty damn lonely when you're on your own, and trying to accept that your life has become unlike anything you ever expected. She had to grow up fast. Add in the visions, and the pain, death and destruction that she witnessed in them, and you've got someone that is going to seem beyond her years.

And someone else here will likely have far more info on the issue of her hairstyles than I do. However, I just don't think that her many "dos" were at the request of the show. At least not all of them. I always figured Charisma, in playing a high school student, was more limited with her hairstyles than she was on Angel, and she well, kept changing it up. Maybe I'm completely wrong on that though. It happens.
Re: Charisma's hair. Didn't the WB make all of its actresses sign contracts stating they would not change their hair, because of what Keri Russell did? I seem to remember the WB really freaking out and they were afraid all their shows would go the way of FELICITY if other actresses cut their hair. I bet that's why SMG didn't get her's cut until she got on UPN. Perhaps the contracts loosened up as ANGEL went on. Plus, Cordy wasn't the main star, so it might have been easier for her to get permission to cut it. And color it. And generally butcher it. Such a beautiful woman, but there were times I just shook my head at her hair. :)
That one credit sequence, when she turned, and her gorgeous long tresses were flailing in the breeze...um....golly...
Harmony's my girl, hence the username. Happy Birthday, Mercedes!
