Test screening of Serenity in Sydney, Australia [reg required]. United International Pictures would like to invite you to a special test screening of Serenity in Sydney, NSW, Australia.

The link is to a post from "serenityoz" aka UIP in Sydney which includes the following:

Be one of the FIRST 35 PEOPLE TO RSVP to serenityoz@uip.com.au and you and a guest will receive a letter in the post to attend the screening.

The screening will be held at 6pm on Wednesday April 27 at a Sydney cinema within 5km of the CBD. Please email your FULL NAME and ADDRESS and if you are one of the first 35 people to RSVP a letter will be sent to you detailing the location of where the screening is being held.

I believe they still have some left – but you’ll only get a reply if you’re in the first 35.

WHAT!!! I'M SO THERE!!!

Well, I sent my RSVP. I'm suppose to be flying over to West Oz on the 23rd but will happily delay my trip for a few extra days as the case maybe! If they have any goodies, and I get to go. I'll bring you some over Catalyst2!

nixygirl - I joked a few months back (when we were suggesting locations for screening) about test-screening Serenity in Australia. Joss must have heard - I mean that's the only possible explanation - isn't it? I revel in my new found power! Of course, the fact that I suggested PERTH is neither here nor there!

ETA - all goodies gratefully received! Since I read the detailed spoilers posted here last night I now know a fair bit of what happens in Serenity and it sounds amazing - as if it could be anything else, of course!

Bout time our Australian chums got a piece of the action. And here's a somewhat related tidbit (in the sense that it has nothing to with the Aussie test screening). Apparently, Nielsen are testing the trailer at the moment. Relevant linky thing from the official movie message board.
Woohoo! One question though (pobably a dumb one) - at a test screening, will that be pre-effects or will everything have been added in already?
That's awesome. Hopefully some positive feedback from Aussie test audiences may get UIP to rethink the two-month wait we may have to endure. I don't want to have to give up the Internet for that long - I work on it. Heh.

StarFaith - There are more than likely some unfinished effects shots and whatnot, but I don't imagine it would be completely without effects and ADR.
Wow, now I'm really hoping they do a test screening in Brazil.
Excellent news. This is what, the fourth test screening? Los Angeles, Kansas City (maybe wrong on that location, please correct me if so), London, and now Sydney. Thinking Universal Studios will be very pleased from the results of Australia.

catalyst2 and nixygirl, if it's possible, would you let us know the impact? Thanks!
If I do get a ticket, don't worry I'll be SCREAMING the results!!! And Catalyst start suggesting that I win the lotto or something. I need a holiday to Bali in July! And if I win you can come with :)
ARGH! And I moved to SEATTLE? Dammit! That's just down the road from my old haunt.
Congrats for whoever is going. It's totally from the other side of the world from me. I'll be living vicariously through you.
Ahh, no spoilers. Just impressions from the crowd please. That's all we need.
Nah, absolutely no spoilers. Just all the fun details and audience reaction! Can do. If I go.
So when are they gonna do a test screening in Dallas, dammit?

Oh. And I for one want spoilers, just for the record. The more the merrier.

nixygirl and catalyst2 - very cool for you guys! jealous here, but for you....yeah!
Any chance there can be two threads like last time, one for spoilers and one spoiler free? I'd love to read everyone's reactions but I don't want to be spoiled.
But I can't go! *pouts* *stamps foot*. Perth is a couple of thousand k's and about $700 dollars too far away from Sydney. There's also that supid work thingy I have to turn up to occasionally! Damn! Damn again!
Sorry, catalyst2 and nixygirl. Big assumptions on our part and I think I started it. Sorry.
I'm in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm stunned.

I just got my letter in the snail mail post.

It is being held at the George Street Cinemas in the city at 6pm. They are also holding a discussion the next day to ask what you liked and disliked about the movie etc. If I go to the discussion I get passes to movies and a sample of the first merchandise for Serenity as well as poster kits etc when they are ready.

Oh boy.....

edited because I can't type properly at the moment

So I need to know where I can post my comments on the movie on wednesday night, with and without spoilers???

Okay, now I am truly jealous. I live on the east coast and no screenings being done here and now you guys are not only going to get to see the movie but your going to get Serenity merchandise too!?!!

Anyway, congrats to those of you who are going to get to go! If it can't be me I'm glad it's some other Whedonesquers who get to go. At least this way, I can at least get a feel for what it was like to go and how the audience reacted.
Oh Firefly Flanatic, I do feel your pain. But am totaly blisssed still! And hey, didn't Joss like totally take over one of your threads??? That was kool! He even spoke about Flans in it if I remeber correctly! So, no pity for you (insert soup nazi voice). Trust me, I will BURN this movie into my brain and share the love!!!! Man I am so excited! *doing happy dance, or wobble as the flab may be*
Congratulations Nixygirl and ditz! That is so great. I look forward to reading the spoiler-free versions of your experience.

I'm with Firefly Flanatic too though. LA, Kansas City...London? Even the birds stop in NJ before they hit the water. Oh well, Joss is supposed to be in Philly in June. Maybe I can go to that...
OMG! My computer hasn't been working and I haven't checked Whedonesque for a while and look what I miss out on! I just emailed anyway, you never know! Grrrr, I wish I checked more regularly! I'm so devestated! Sydney's only like an 8 hour drive (thats nothing compared to the other side of the world that we're always talking about here!) I need a road trip, never been to Sydney, hanging to see this movie! DAMN me!
Have just come back from seeing Serenity. Not sure where to post, do I go to flicker?

Joss, I have to tell you that I *loved* it. Even without all the fancies, it really stood up. My snarky 15 year old thought it was a 'real rush', she understood the whole set up - and she has only ever looked at the cover of the Firefly dvds.

You are a brilliant storyteller. Thank you.
