As for the 'Joss just looks at boards' joke, I actually remember at a Comicon Q&A with Joss that some guy at the mike asked a question about just that. He said they would discuss things on a board and a month later it would happen on the show just like that!
Joss replied: "You got us. It's all you." Then pointed out that by the time we see an ep, the story for, and the ideas and main plot points had been decided on months before. Still, I bet some folks believe it even now...
