Amazon reminder for Serenity DVD now available - Not that anyone here will probably need it, but you can now be notified by e-mail when Serenity is available on DVD at Amazon.

This looks like a reminder about the movie, not the DVD.
Yep. I don't think thats a listing for the DVD.
On the right hand side, "E-mail me when available from Amazon.com," with a selection labeled "DVD."

You might have to be logged in to see it, I dunno.

Yeah, Chris is right, there's a blue box that, if you're logged in, should populate your e-mail address.

Not that we won't likely know the DVD release date long before Amazon gets around to telling us, I went ahead and put in. Can't hurt to start that trickle now.
Yep. I signed up just to show there's a demand for it. Keep the buzz going...
They use these to test the interest/predict early sales for upcoming books from best-selling authors, too. Signing up can't be anything but a good thing for the buzzbuzzbuzz. Thanks for the head's up.
Almost definite that we'll know the release date before Amazon get around to replying to all the addresses, quite possible they'll never reply, a couple of films I've signed up to be notified for have had a different entry made for the DVD eg. they'll create a new entry "Serenity: Collectors Widescreen Edition" or "Serenity: 3 Disc Directors Cut With 10 Hours of Bonus Material" (a guy can dream), and not notify all the people that signed up for simply "Serenity".

Anyway, still worth signing up, means they'll notice it's popular.
I signed up for this awhile ago and would definitely encourage everyone to do the same. The more demand for the dvd before the movie is even released will be more good buzz for Serenity.
As folks have said, it can't hurt, and Amazon is very good about not spamming you.

I think it is very likely we'll get a director's cut. The studio has plently of incentive (uh, more sales), and Joss, like Peter Jackson, will want to put out the movie he knows hardcore fans want to see.
Thanks for the heads-up folks, especially pointing out the additional incentives to sign up. My Amazon wish list is full of Joss and Joss-related stuff, mostly unofficial guides, novelizations and comics that I don't want, but two other books, entitled "Serenity" and "Firefly" also popped up on there. Neither have anything to do with the BDM, mind you, in think one's a crime fiction, but still, amusing just the same.

At the PDX screening, Chris Buchanan (exec producer) was asked about the possibility of a "director's cut". The impression I got was that there may be one, but there's a good chance that there won't. Not for the usual reasons, but because Joss has been given so much freedom, the Serenity everyone will see is the one that he wants us to see.

Which I personally think is a good thing.
Point taken about signing up. It all adds to the buzz and may mean Amazon will order more when it first comes out.

And I have read that Joss is against "Directors cut" for the TV shows, for example, but hope that we'll get to see "His" cut first time out anyway.
Oh thank you! *signs up*
