Nick Brendon unable to attend Moonlight Rising. According to his official website, due to filming on his new series Nick will not be making a trek to the Pennsylvania Poconos in August.

They've had some major drop-outs this time around. Hopefully they won't lose any other celebrity guests. I'd hate to see such a great convention flop.
Andy & Mark did not drop out of the convention they were dropped. I asked Andy about it at MCB and that's what he told me.
I don't understand why a lot of conventions don't bring in the writers. Are they not as big of a draw?

I just always think they have the most wonderful stories and relate better to the fans.

I don't mean to discount actors, they're very pretty and bring characters to life, but all the cool things those characters say and do that make us love or hate them come busting out of the head of the writers.

I heart writers.
Drew Goddard will be at the Booster Bash and David Fury will be at AUP (but I bet you knew that last part already :-) Right there with you on hearting the writers.

I'd be interested in knowing more. Perhaps you could tell me what happened off list?

Moonlight Rising is a fan-organized convention. My impression has always been that it was organized mainly to get James Marsters to come, and anyone else coming was icing on the cake. James attended the first two years, but won't be there this year. I have no idea who decides who to invite, but there have never been any writers at this convention - which is ashame, because none of the actors would be where they are without the writers.

I'm right there with you, Allyson!
I'm sorry for the fans who wanted to see Nick, but very glad for the reason he's not going. Work!
Yeah, I'm happy that Nick is too busy too attend and I hope someday soon that all the stars are too busy to attend (maybe not too busy to attend some here and there though).
I agree with Allyson, I've never been to a Con because to be honest I'm not all that interested in meeting the actors. Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of most of the whedonverse actors and try to support them in their other roles but it's the writing/writers that make my favourite shows what they are and the're the people I'm interested in. I'd be much more likely to go to a convention that had Joss, Tim and Jane than Sarah, Alyson and Nick.

I do imagine this opinion is the minority however and so I'm happy just watching the shows and reading the occasional posts online.
Not to throw up an alarm but perhaps more of an alert, if Nick is not going to make it or just make it for a day (as the promoter is now saying they are trying to work out a deal), because of his new job. What is the status on Christian Kane for this event, since he to has a new series coming out and it's an hour drama which tends to film longer hours and days than a sitcom? Just curious on if anyone from the con has contacted his management yet to find his status.
