Batman Begins connections with the Buffyverse. Due to its premiere, here are is a technical alum to look for: Rutger Hauer (Lothos in the BtVS movie) as Richard Earle. Meanwhile, SMG a close second for Katie Holmes' character?

That's funny. SMG reportedly beat Katie for the role of Buffy.
And DB was considered for Bruce Wayne...how odd would that have been? First, he's a vampire, then someone who's obsessed w/ bats...
To be honest, I think it's a case of names being thrown around. It's not a role that I think she would have really been interested in (based on things she's said), and I also think it'd be rare for those two to be closely contending any role since I think they're very different. The Katie Holmes as Buffy rumours have certainly been built up beyond all belief, and I think this is just a case of actresses in the same age range being mentioned without any real proof. Plus, it's imdb after all.
Saw this movie in an advance screening last week... it's fantastic.
From what I read of the Katie Holmes/Buffy things was that the casting person wanted to consider her for the role, but she was too young to work the required amount of hours. So I'm not sure it's so much a case of her being 'beat out' by anyone. Someone just thought of her is all.

Anyway, that's if the Buffy mag is to be believed at all.
RambleOn, I saw it last night. Loved it too.
Me too, went to the midnight showing for my 30th birthday...let alone from the bitterness of the birthday the movie was very good. I actually think SMG would have done a very good job, as did KH. My only negative thought was some of Batman's lines were a little over the top.

I have not heard anything about KH being a contender for Buffy. So glad SMG got it, could not even picture anyone else!
There's one more Batman/Buffyverse connection that people might not know about.

Read about the Batman series that would have been paired with Angel on The WB.
Very cool find, Simon. I could very well see Angel teamed up with Bruce Wayne for a night of quiet, sexy, heroes. Makes me a little sad that this didn't happen.
According to this thread http://browncoats.serenitymovie.com/serenity/index.html?fuseaction=forum.viewtopic&t=13808 Several people saw the Serenity trailer on Batman Begins. I haven't seen it yet. Anyone else here see the Serenity trailer?
Yup, the trailer was behind Batman Begins. Totally cool. When I saw it on screen, I was like... OMG. It was the first trailer, so everyone was still getting into their seats. But either way, the ones watching was... well... watching it. :)

Nadia
I saw the trailer today when I went to see BB??? OMG! I was REELING from seeing it on the big screen. I cannot wait for the movie to finally release!!!

And about SMG as Rachel Dawes? Hilariously, when watching this movie, there's a few scenes where I imagined Sarah in Katie's place? Damn, she would have done so frelling well too! Though to be honest, I liked KH in this role a whole lot more than I thought I would.
Huntress, how did the audience seem to react to the trailer?
That is cool, Simon.

I really like Batman Begins too. The Serenity trailer was there to brighten up a mostly pathetic set of previews. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a new trailer, though I had no reason to expect one and have become intensely spoiler-phobic about Serenity so I'm better off anyway. (I wished I hadn't watched the 10 minute Batman Begins preview, though most of the best moments have not been in the trailers.)

As for the audience reaction to the BDT, it seemed positive but I was too engrossed myself even though I know it so well.

I might as well confess that I love Angel and Buffy but I really come here for the 'fly. I hope the rumors are true that the Serenity date might be moved up, though then I won't have it to look forward to any more...
Actually, I heard quite a few "That looks cool!" type of comments coming from the theatre. One person in particular - besides me - whooped (I "wheeeed") when they saw the part that said Joss' name. They really seemed to like the River fight scene too, judging by the "whoas" and stuff. The audience seemed to take to it.
Thanks RBB and Huntress! That makes me feel more confidant that the BDM is going to be a hit! I'd be like you RBB - sitting there so engrossed myself that I probably wouldn't notice anyone elses reactions. Of course I'd probably be hooting and a hollering to the point where everyone would notice me!!
That's awesome some of you have seen it with Batman! I wonder if the Serenity trailer is only attached to Batman in certain areas or in certain theaters/prints. Has anyone heard of someone going to see Batman and *not* seeing the trailer?

I'm dying to see the trailer on the big screen surrounded by oodles of uninitiated chomping on their popcorn - not too loudly, mind you. Dying, I tell you. Serenity now!

I've seen Serenity at a screening. The more I think about it, the more asinine I believe the September 30th opening day to be. Serenity would have a very decent chance of being a real summertime hit. All the teens/young adults that Uni considers their biggest possible draw (at least if you look at the first trailer) have oodles of time and inclination during the summer to go to the movies. Many of the people packing it in at Batman and soon, War of the Worlds, would be more likely to see the Serenity in the summer. They'll see trailers for it with big summertime flicks and they'll say, hey, that looks cool. Come that weird September 30th time, getting the same folks into the theater will be trickier. School and university will be back in session, vacations will be over. I know I'm stating what a gajillion have already stated but I can't help it. Damn it.
I saw Batman Begins last night but there was no Serenity trailer for me. Man that sucks!

Batman Begins was a really good film, but I would have liked it better if Scarecrow was more central to the plot and envolved more in the story, but other than that it was a really good comic book movie. Can't wait to see the next one with Joker.
phlebotinin, no Serenity trailer for me either :(...very sad.
Wow. Did a lot of them just not have the trailers?

That's so weird.
Aw, poor Harmalicious and SpikeBad. I wish somebody in film would just dip in here and explain this trailer business. Is is theater chain specific? Is it city/county specific? Is it just up to the dude in the projection booth? Nah, as Universal advertising there must be rhyme and reason to this. Hmmm.
I think the theather decides what trailer to put on a film because sometimes a trailer will be playing on 3 screens but not the 4th at the same cinema.
