OK I'm a total newbie to the comic book things. However I would love to buy this, tales of the vampire, Fray and Angel. How and where do I go about that living in Australia? Any helpers out there? I was thinking Kings Comics but never having actually purchased this stuff I want to know if I'm not paying way too much. Help.

Yes! This week, this week folks! Think about it: this is the first original Firefly story since the cancellation (chronologically speaking, since Joss and Brett Matthews both say it's set between the "six months to a year after the end of the show" - remember this thread?).

I am still most intrigued by this quote (which should also be invisible, considering my speculation below:

Mr. Matthews would neither confirm nor deny in the above-linked interview, sneaky fellow that he is, but this review pretty much convinces me that the comic book mini-series will show us the return, and possibly the defeat (somehow!) of the infamous "Hands of Blue" from the end of "The Train Job" and the last half of "Ariel."
Here's hoping!

nixygirl, borders have quite afew of Joss' stuff, or you can get them ordered in and for a decent price. As i live in Australia too i find myself having to do that as there isnt as bigger selection over here.
or you could, if you really wanted, get them ordered in from overseas but it wouold be quite abit more expensive so really just look around.

Yea, I went to Galaxy last time in Syd. They were a little too pricey for me, mind you I was just mostly looking at books and action figures at the time. I'll def go check out Borders and Galaxy again this weekend, with a few of the Browncoats maybe.

Yay!! I am so looking forward to reading these comics - my copy of Serenity #1 should soon, hopefully, be winging its way across the world to bring me joy down here in Australia.

And, nixygirl, just to let you know - we've got some shiny prizes to give away at the shindig, some of which could very well be copies of Serenity#1...

Hey nixygirl, I'm a regular at Kings Comics, which is much cheaper than Borders or Galaxy for comics and trade paperbacks (altho Galaxy is a great independent shop). Comics in Australia are just expensive though - GST and exchange rates (what retails for US$3 translates to AU$7 at Sydney comic shops). Which city do you live in? Adelaide, at least, I discovered when I visited, actually has shops with cheaper comics than Sydney.

You should also, by the way, pick up copies of Joss's Astonishing X-Men, the first six issues of which is out as a trade paperback. It's the best comic being published right now - it just pure Joss, great one-liners, great emotion, and the art by John Cassaday is amazing.

Can't make the shindig, but I'm waay jealous of those who do!

Does anyone know if this Serenity comic book is going to be released as a graphic novel with all the issues in one book, like Tales of the Vampires or Fray? I'm not big into comic books but I like Joss's work so I would be interested in buying the graphic novel with all the story instead of seperate comic books.

It's good to see some positive Serenity buzz at CHUD, a very high-traffic site. The only one of their regular film reviewers I've seen mention Serenity so far is definitely not a fan of Joss.

Dark Horse hasn't announced a trade paperback collection yet, I don't think, but it almost certainly will. It's an easier way to get the story, for sure. Only problem is that it might not be till next year or so, but if you don't mind a bit of a wait, its not that risky. Given the cover artists, Dark Horse seems pretty confident its gonna be a hit. I'm hoping they'll be a good collection with extra stuff (then I'll get it as well as the single issues), but them I'm a comic book geek.

I want the trade paperback but I also want to read these three comics before the movie comes out so I am getting one of each set and will order the tpb when that comes out too. Someone said it will most likely have all the covers in it so I just picked my three favorites for the ones I'm getting for now.
