2nd batch of EIFF Serenity screenings sold out. After 10 minutes. They hadn't even got the tickets online.

So nice of them not to tell us it wasn't going to be available online.
It's been confirmed on the main page.
It's strange, there appears to be alot of Browncoats out there in the UK who are lurking.

Come on you lot...delurk! UK Browncoats....silent, but deadly!
UK Browncoat delurking as commanded! I can't believe the third show has sold out, awesome for the guys at Mutant Enemy and Universal, not so good for the fans out there still trying to get tickets.
Cool! I commanded and it happend! There's hope for me yet.

Hey there RDH, I only know of people who want to go but can't! Yes, great news, lets hope that the August screenings will do just as well.
Someone, well, I'm confused (he said in his best Wash), how did so many fans in the UK get onboard? Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Firefly on a premium service? Right? It wasn't on regular BBC channel or private terrestrial channels. Theories?

Anyway, you guys sure know how to get attention, what with buying all the tickets in minutes. Way to go!
There will very likely be a thread or two for these particular screenings so our British and no doubt European posters can discuss the movie.

And don't forget, starting this Friday for the next 15 weeks we're discussing each Firefly episode once it airs on Sci Fi USA.
how did so many fans in the UK get onboard?

Word of mouth and the sharing of all the dvd box set goodness. We know a good thing when we see it ;)
Yep...I've been lending out my DVD's for months and generally talking it up to everybody.

Nobody escapes...strangely, most of the people that I talk to about it have already heard about it!
As a UK fan of the Whedonverse I'm well used to bypassing the UK TV networks and what they decide what to broadcast. The power of the internet allows me to have watched the entire first season of Lost at least a couple of months before the first episode even airs here, I've started watching Entourage which no one here has even heard about and the same goes for The Inside.

So it's no suprise for me that many people here know about, and have seen, Firefly and are waiting for Serenity with bated breath.

Though as a percentage of the population we're probably quite small. Maybe that could work in Serenity's favour, sorry, 'favor'. Since no one here will talk about how it is based on a 'failed' TV show it could mean more of the general public going to see it with an open mind.
how did so many fans in the UK get onboard?

You're wondering about that now? Don't forget that England's already had the very first Firefly-specific convention worldwide, and it was a roaring success. (Check out the video file on the official site, and you can see me standing next to Nathan himself. :-D )
One word (well, three actually): Word-of-mouth.

Let's not overestimate things too much - there's still not that much general knowledge of Firefly in the UK yet, but it is fast amashing a very large hard core fanbase here. And that's good (and also, not so coincidential - work has gone into spreadin' the love here).
I'm so happy you all got showings over there!

Thanks for the reminder about Friday, Simon, I'm going to watch every episode as it was meant to be aired. I hope they don't do choppy commercial breaks because it's being re-run.

I'm so proud of the U.K. Way to go, Browncoats!
Yay, a friend of a friend who lives in Edinburgh got himself some tickets thanks to me telling our mutal friend about this new screening. I might not be able to go but at least I feel a bit better about helping someone else go. No resentment or jealousy at all. Nope, not me, I'm too altrusitic for such base feelings.

EDIT to add:

Hmm didn't take long:
