Next weeks 'The Inside' bumped back. Herc reports that next week's episode of "The Inside" has been bumped back for a 'special' 90-minute "So You Think You Can Dance?"

Oh joy.

You're kidding me. Do people really watch this tripe enough to move around a halfway decent show to make room for it? GAH.

How many of them do you think can actually dance then?
They should do a show called "So you think you can successfully program a network into obscurity?"
Are we thinking this is it? Once you start bumping a show that is already on the hotseat for 90-minute speciala of derivative reality programming, my feeling is that the decision has been made.

Well, apparently the debut scored very well for F*X. According to the overnights they won the night over all, Dance came in 2nd at 8pm and 1st at 9pm with the highest rating of the evening, and it won the 18-49 demographic.

Here's the zap2it link (you can cut and paste 'cause I'm lame and can't figure out how to make those tags work)

So, not a big surprise that they are going to try to flog it as much as possible. I find the 90 minute length an especially interesting ploy.

Our only hope is that once was enough.
/sigh Anyone know what Tim's next 13 episode limited series is about? :D

Don't know, but I am sure to enjoy it while it lasts.
I figured this was going to happen if that stupid dance show was a hit. I will be very surprised if we see the remaining episodes of The Inside at all. Typical Fox.
Well, 20th TV is sure to make a killing on the DVDs.
Well at least the U. S. is still getting it. Toronto replaced it with back to back episodes of Will and Grace. The Pain! the Pain!
It's over, and "30 Days" has just ended, so I guess it's back to "Veronica Mars" reruns.

Or maybe I'll just read from now on.
Am I the only one having trouble mustering up any indignation about this?

I DO wish I could care more (because, hey, it's Tim) but after watching the first two episodes I just had a gut feeling it would be short-lived, so I stopped investing any time or emotion into it.

Is this what Fox is trying to do? Train us? Make us just 'not care' about any of their efforts? Seems counter-productive to me.

Or is it more a dvd thing? Since television on dvd has become so ridiculously profitable, is this the way things are going to be now? Whet our appetite for free with about 4 episodes on broadcast, then cancel the show so we'll be forced to buy the dvd set to see the remaining 58 episodes that were never aired?

This does really suck for Tim, the crew, and the actors, but I'm starting to feel manipulated and I'm getting my neck bowed about all this.
Fox has become the crappiest network of them all. Perhaps they've realized how crappy they've become and have entered self-parody mode? Perhaps this "dance" thing is a giant joke? I saw about five minutes of the "dance" show this week when I erroneously tuned in to see The Inside (alas). Five minutes was all it took to loathe, despise and abominate said show. Horrible stuff with horrible, horrible people. Oh, the indignity of it all! May Tim Minear take comfort in knowing that to Fox, quality has apparently become anathema.
Agreed Nebula. Perhaps we should start the Whedonesque bookclub for fans without shows to love.

This has nothing to do with anything, but I'm now in possession of a piece of the wall and a few "bricks" from Sunnydale's police station. I'll have some more pics of the demolition of Buffy Alley, soon. The Sun Theater sign is gone now, sucked into storage at 20th. It made me smile when I could still see it from the freeway.
There's a great book thread on the Flickr started by Poster Boy... seems a lot of us have been reading lately, and er, um...always.
