Serenity as an example of an embedded Linux Media player , included in a free desktop environment called Gnome. [Scroll near the end of the page].

I know this kind of news may seem stupid, but you wouldn't believe how much Linuxians can be influenced by this kind of thumbnail seeing that Gnome is one of the most popular Linux Desktop around.

Not stupid at all, we haven't had a tech item at Whedonesque for ages. Makes a very welcome change.
Amusing story: that website made slashdot yesterday, which has readership into the millions. So. Very. Cool.
SO awesome! That's right up there with the Apple developer who used Firefly-related RSS feeds to illustrate Safari's built-in RSS capabilities. That was on Whedonesque a while ago. Very, very shiny.
Love seeing little shoutouts like this :) I still like KDE better, but ;)
That was kool on 2 levels for me. They also showed the weather forecasts from Western Australia. A place close to my heart.
