Serenity makes Rotten Tomatoes' list of Fall 2005 highlights. Just a little tidbit which lists the highlights for each week in the fall season. Serenity is listed as the highlight for September 30th.

I particularly enjoyed the one-sentence description of the film. It's unusually succinct.

I read some of writer Scott Weinberg's other capsule summaries and they're all as good as the Serenity one.

Thanks for the tip, binkaboo.
hm, not the best capsule, to my way of thinking. It posits the film as a shaky proposition for newbies, but of course all the obsessive fans will be attending. Not precisely the most welcoming way to paraphrase the movie to ppl w/o a clue to its quality. I almost wish the connection the TV show were severed entirely to the media's knowledge, b/c the movie is constantly framed in the show's failure and the ardent fan-support. Which is fine if it were just marketed to us, but preaching to the choir is not enough.
True, dottikin, but then when the entire choir starts preaching, it makes quite a difference. At least that's what they're banking on. ;)
I'm completely with you dottikin, on every word you said. When I read "...may be a tough sell to the general moviegoers...", I kinda winced, and just in general I wish that the movie were sold more on its own terms, instead of being connected with "all the obsessive fans." Cuz if I didn't happen to already be a fan of Joss Whedon and Firefly/Serenity, and this was the way I encountered the movie, it's very likely I'd roll my eyes and move on.
Cuz I'm not sure I'd be so much impressed with the intense fan-worship as, to be honest, condescending towards it. You know, "what a bunch of freaks," that sort of thing.
