Ah, that is very cool. Didn't think the owner would end up naming a price. As for what to do with it, I have no clue myself, but I'd be happy to donate a small amount to make sure the prop goes to a browncoat, if nothing else, and I think quite a few people who've been following this story for some time now would be willing to do the same...

It'd be best if the ambulance ended up somewhere, in restored state, where other browncoats could, at least in theory, go and see it...

I am sitting about 4 city blocks away from the SFM right now. :)

I am a member of the SFM and visit about 3 times a month. While the idea of donating it is great, I must say that the SFM does not have a lot of space. Currently Firefly is not represented at the SFM (I am working on that!) in any form. The largest prop they have is the alien queen from "Alien". It is pretty big, but not as big as our beloved ambulance.

I am thinking I will walk over at lunch time and ask some questions! :)

a museum would be a great place--I was even thinking the Smithsonian!!!!!!!!!! but maybe they wouldnt be interested till after the 3rd movie and the joss empire can do no wrong even he he changes the movie so the operator shot first

Why think so small? When Universal is done shooting film 3, I want to be able to walk into Serenity (fully rebuilt at, say, Universal Firefly Theme Park) and bump into the Ambulance in the cargo bay, stepping around cow deposits (fully functional!), and around the speeder thingy (from the film) and the other speeder thingy (bad guy drove it in Heart of Gold).

But I guess we can start with a small project and save the Ariel Ambulance. I'm in.

I liked the charity ideas people were bouncing around before, using it as a Red Cross blood donation station/publicity awareness/charity hub of some kind. I can't remember if someone suggested this here or on the Universal boards last time the topic arose (probably both places, really).

The Hollywood Entertainment Museum has the sets of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Cheers and X-Files. Problem with that is I don't see how you get the ambulance indoors. I think also interest is low at this point. Once the movie comes out and does well, interest will skyrocket but probably the asking price as well.

Think even bigger. A Joss Whedon theme park (Whedonverse) with different 'verses. There would be Firefly/Serenityverse (built around the white helicopter thing and a full-scale, walk-through model of Serenity), Buffyverse (where they will have a musical performance three times a day with dancing vampires and guys with giant heads), Angelverse (with a live puppet show), and then Script Doctorverse which features a ride for every movie Joss worked on (imagine a bus that won't stop or else it will explode), and special tribute shows to Parenthood and Roseanne. There could even be people dressed up like different X-Men walking around to greet the public.
