Joss and Summer talk "Session 416" viral marketing videos.
Various reports out of London hit today with Joss Whedon and Summer Glau reacting to questions about the "Session 416" videos that have cropped up online in the past seven days.
(To avoid appearing to promote my own site, and because my server can get slow sometimes, what follows below is the entirety of what's offered up so far at the link in the headline to this item.)
[Edit note: Removed link to the site this came from, since it's mine, although also the only place currently keeping track of this, but.... Heh.]
Over at the UK Browncoat Forums, a post reports: "Joss confirmed tonight at the london CSTS screening that yes it is, indeed, him being whacked by River."
A later post to the same boards, says: "Summer saw the clip on Whedonesque.com she said. And grinned. A lot."
Yet another post there says: "The main reason Joss said he was in the clips is because they were organised at such short noticed. They are part of an ongoing story so expect more."
Meanwhile, a message to the "Session 416" Yahoo! group, reports this: "Joss also said that he took the part because they made the videos so quickly that there wasn't enough time to cast an actor. It also appears that he directed them, because he talked about doing a fall (supposedly the best the stunt co-ordinator had seen) and then calling cut while lying on the floor."

I'm not that fast on the uptake but that means Summer reads Whedonesque. How cool is that?

This is a self link if you run the site you linked to, which it appears you do, given the statement quoted above.

If you're reading, Hi, Summer! I'm a huge fan. River is a character I can really relate to and I want to thank you for making her so real and palpable. I saw Serenity and you're awesome in it!
Anyhoo, I'm surprised they confirmed it. I expected Joss to be all sly about it to leave it all mysterious and such. But it's cool to get the inside scoop. Joss falling on the floor and then yelling "Cut!" Hee.

Please don't take away my fangirl badge.

Yeah I noticed that, it was weird. I held off trying to fix it again, figuring someone here would notice, heh.

Also, the link provided is only a login page for people who have permission to enter the site, so it's a bit useless to anyone not in the club.

Well, all the link gives is the same quote I give in the first example report. Then the others are either from the same site, of from the Yahoo! group set up to discuss the videos.
As for where the videos are cropping up: The first one showed up on IFILM, and the second one was emailed to me by "John Dowses" which is an anagram for "Joss Whedon" (although likely not actually him).
I've mirrors all clips so far on Ourmedia. There are other mirrors for the same clips, but I keep the list on a site I run, so rather than run afoul of the self-linking no-no (which I already goofed into once today, heh), maybe someone else can post that link.

Fascinating stuff. I love black and white. Sin City anyone? Sorry, not meaning to go off topic.

So far, yes. What we know right now is that Joss confirmed there are more, and IFILM claims to have a total of four, and summer-glau.com reports that the mysterious "Paul Probo" has said there are in fact four in total.
We'll see.

And to all the nay-sayers, I sooo knew it was Joss!!!!
*waves to Summer*

Yes, that part's annoying, but I'm not sure if it's the clips or some change in video software, because I've had other clips do similar things.
In any case, you may not be crashed. I'm in WinXP Pro, and the video takes over the full screen and stops. You can do cntrl-alt-delete, and select the task manager, which gets your desktop back, then kill the video player, and cancel out of the task manager. You then have control of your system again, without a reboot.
