Serenity still topping Edinburgh Film Festival audience awards. "Serenity stays on top for another day... and the same three films have stayed strong throughout. With only a few days remaining, the race is heating up!". A quick reminder to all who see the "Best of the Fest" screening this Sunday to vote according to how they like the film - if they do, there's every chance Serenity will walk the festival's best film.

If Serenity manages to stay in the lead and win the poll it will be a major boost in credibility, not for us who already know Joss is great but for the world at large. What other big action scifi movie could be voted best movie at a film festival?

It'll look a great quote for the poster and help sway opinion for people who may just judge a book by the cover.
Indeed - I think it's termed Standard Life Best Film award from what I recall.
Someone on IMDB has a sense of humor. (No spoiler in the first post despite what the warning says.) Reg Req.

Having loved Serenity and MirrorMask, this is the second time a link here has pointed me towards Tsotsi. Maybe I should check for Best Of The Fest availability...
You know the imdb rating rose to 9.1?
This is awesome news for Serenity! Not like we did not already know that this is the best movie ever, but to have the rest of the world recognize it, woohoo! ((on a side note, anyone here have a copy of the original Serenity poster on thier computers?))
As if all the Josh Wheldon mistakes weren't bad enough, there's an article at Cinematical calling the BDM "Serendipity".
Gaah! I love John Cusack, but he 'ain't no' BDH!

Do they screw up this much with all movies? And we're just noticing because this is our baby? Whatever! Makes me want to throttle the whole damn lot of 'em.
John Cusack! Bwa! I love that guy.
John Cusack is Glory?
Glory is John?
Wait, so you're saying that John and Glory know each other?
Random aside: there are still tickets available for Sunday's Best of the Fest Serenity screening at the above website!
Bad news today as Serenity drops to second place.
Damn and cuss. We don't have another screening until Sunday (which is too late for vote counting), so it pretty much means we'll finish 2nd now. Since Serenity is a Gala premiere it's a shame the Sunday screening isn't counted as well.

My voting advice, in title anagram form:

Serenity = Try, I seen (even though I haven't yet!)

Tsotsi = Toss it
anyone here have a copy of the original Serenity poster on their computer

Yes, Genia, I uploaded it to flickr. You can see it here. And, if this isn't the one you meant, the last two posters are already loaded in our flickr photo group on page five.

Well, the fact that it held first place for several days is quite a testament. And I've no doubts it would've regained first again if 'Serenity' was screened again before voting ends.
All I can say is... darn. =) Isn't there SOME award Serenity could get out of Edinburgh though? There's GOTTA be - I see so many movie ads with those wing-y things announcing they've won some recognition at a film fest...
Madhatter - Thanks, but I had that image (yes, it is the one that I am looking for, but I was hoping for the one that is not the photo of the poster, but just the poster in jpg - or whatever - form)
No problem, Genia. I can't recall that the original preview poster was ever displayed in its jpg form on the internet, only this picture from Coming Soon.
What if - lots of Serenity fans go see Tsosti and give it a bad rating. Will that bring Serenity back to the top?

Ps - I'm only slightly joking!
I think Cider's option won't work since there is no screening for Tsotsi anymore (except on Sunday, which like Serenity's won't count).

Anyway someone has done this on IMDB, where Tsotsi has a disastrous rating of 4.6 after 24 votes (and if one looks at the raw data, this bad rating is almost completely due to one regular voter giving a 1).
Does anyone know how many screenings there have been of Tsotsi (not including the Sunday one which won't count)? It's obviously a good film as it was at the top of the ratings before Serenity was shown, then Serenity beat it and - I presume after another showing of Tsotsi - it has gone back up to top position. It's probably fair to say that most people who went to see Serenity have given it an excellent rating as the majority of people will be fans already. Whereas Tsotsi would have got a more unbiased audience. So did Tsotsi have more showings than Serenity or the same number?
As I can tell from the schedule on the festivals website, Tsotsi aired twice and Serenity three times (both excluding the Sunday screenings).
