This reminds me Davis' lines in the interview on the firefly DVD: "my fantasy is that we make a movie of firefly, the movie sells well and someone approaches Joss to tell him: "Hey, how about making a TV series out of Serenity" "...

I've seen the occasional person who is suddenly pleasantly surprised when the Firefly = Serenity connection is made. I think it's more people who watched the occasional episode but did buy the DVD's so the trailer seems familar but for some reason they don't make the connection right away.
