NE Browncoats fundraising for Hurricane relief. The New England Browncoats are raising funds for the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund.

This is just one of the many things that I have heard about Browncoats doing.
At this point, nearly $2000 has been raised.

This is really nice! I'm from New England but I've already donated to the Red Cross. They look like they are about to already reach their goal.
Way to go, Dave!!! :D

Here's an e-mail I received concerning Adam Baldwin's efforts:

The New England Browncoats have just created a charity donation site for those in need after the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

All money will go directly to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund. The website JustGiving.com funnels all money to the charity with no middleman.

We have set up a goal of $500.00. If you want to make a donation, you can visit the donation site at http://www.justgiving.com/pfp/NEBHurricaneRelief

Be sure to tell your friends and family about this site.

If anyone wants to make an offline donation I will handle them. Just send a check payable to the American Red Cross to:

New England Browncoats
Hurricane Relief
P.O. Box 79
Swansea, MA 02777

The goal has been raised, and the current amount donated is - $2,970.00

Alternate places to donate -

The Hurricane Katrina Displaced Residents Fund, which will help residents and The Hurricane Katrina New Orleans Recovery Fund, which will focus on rebuilding infrastructure. Tax deductible donations are being accepted online at www.braf.org. Donations by check should be made out to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and mailed or delivered to 402 N. Fourth St., Baton Rouge, La., 70802.

Also, Adam Baldwin has come forward and said he will donate.. well, read for your self -

"Count me in.

I hereby officially volunteer to donate all 90% (10% covers agents' expenses) of money collected at my Dragon-Con "Walk of Fame" signing session to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.

Please come by and get a signed photo or two (or more), and know that the contribution will be given, in the name of Browncoats and FF/Serenity fans everywhere, to the specific charity this here thread deems the most effective at directly helping those in dire need.

May our hearts, prayers and assistance now go out to those suffering from the devastation of this catastrophic Hurricane.

Many Thanks to all who may read this and hope to see you at Dragon Con!

Please pass the word...

Serenity always!

A.B."

Since Adam posted that message, he has collected $11,714.00., At Dragon*Con, not counting anything from Sunday.

Its a tough time for all concerned. Please, if you are able then give. what ever you can. Even the smallest of donations will help.

our Thoughts and prayers go out to the many families and indeviduals affected by this terrible event.

At times like these it is important to help those who are unable to help themselves. Your donation can do that.

"'When you can't run anymore, you crawl... and when you can't do tha, You find someone... to carry you.'"
Thank you for your time, and may god be with everyone who has been touched by this tragedy.
And an update from Adam:

Saturday's count: $7,714.00

$7,714.00 (Saturday) + $4,000.00 (Friday's exact count was $3,974.00; to which I added $26.00) = $11,714.00.

The kindness and generosity exhibited these past 48 hours by fans of FF/Serenity and others who have joined in this effort has been one of the most profoundly heart-warming and inspirational experiences of my life.

I cannot possibly express the magnitude of my appreciation to all those who have taken the time to stop by to contribute and offer words of encouragement and sympathy for those in the disaster areas. May God bless you all.

The funds collected by yours truly will be wire-transferred first thing Monday morning in Los Angeles - unless the SA cannot, for some reason unknown to me at this time, accept such electronic transactions; in which case a cashier's check will be Fed-Exed for delivery Tuesday.

Thanks again to you all!

Your spirits surround in a most uplifting way.

Serenity always,

A.B.
(humbled by your grace)"
Oh, that's so touching. I wish I could help out but I'm struggling financially. I don't have money and I don't have room to house refugees. I wish I could do something but I'm sending everyone from NOLA good vibes. Peace to everyone who suffered from this and lost loved ones.
Adams and the Dragon*con browncoats Grand Total: $16,206.00
New England Browncoats (so far) :$3,395.00
BUT, all the money doesn't go to the American Red Cross. Up to 5% goes directly to the Just Giving website and another 2.35% is for transaction fees. It's a wonderful idea, but its incorrect to tell people all the money will go to the charity.
